Jeff Kinney is back with one of my favorite novel. These book are so funny and dramatic. I rated this a five star because it's amazingly funny. This time I was anxious for it to come out in libraries. It's a good book for middle schoolers. I have read all of the novels. It is so good cant wait for

more.

As with all the books in the series, The Ugly Truth is told through the eyes of middle-schooler Greg Heffley. As with the previous books in the series, The Ugly Truth, does not disappoint in the laugh-out-loud, goofy antics and situations with which Greg constantly finds himself. Greg, the author
Show More
of the diary (or journal as he prefers to call it), explains the frustrations of adolescence through his writings and illustrations. With the diary style of writing, Greg's stories are to the point with crisp, clear storytelling. The handwriting style font, to simulate Greg's writing in a diary, adds authenticity to the book. The cartoon illustrations not only clarify the story but add to its hilarity as well. Finally, Kinney's choice to have Greg tell his stories via diary, offers Greg with a way to cope with his awkward experiences.

In The Ugly Truth, Greg doesn't disappoint his readers as he leads us through growing up – the good, the bad, and the ugly of it. Continuing from the fourth book, The Ugly Truth begins with the destroyed friendship between Greg and his best friend Rowley. Throughout the book, Greg struggles with trying to come to terms with Rowley, never wanting to swallow his pride and admit just how much Rowley means to him. As he is fretting over his doomed friendship and contemplating why Rowley won't come crawling back, he leads the reader through various life experiences. Greg's narcissistic, something for nothing attitude causes things to not quite work out the way he expects. Greg is involved in one mishap after another in this comical tale of growing up.

This is a good children's literature book because the stories and illustrations are humorous, witty, simple, and interesting. Greg represents an average child facing realistic situations but with unrealistic expectations. He humorously and candidly faces topics that many adolescents deal with on a daily basis. The simplicity of the stories, the relatable storylines, and the humor with which they're told allow children to feel comfortable about growing – and lets them know they're not alone."

This series is very popular amognst young teens. After reading The Ugly Truth i could see why. The books are very light and funny. Many jokes throughout to keep you engagaed. I also like that the books touch on so many series topics for young kids like puberty and crushes, but they do so in a fun
Show More
way. Not too much depth to the story but still an easy read and very humorus.

This book is a part of a full series of books. I like this book because it deals with changes that come with getting older and experiencing new things. Greg Heffley is the main character of this book and of the series. In this particular book he does not have his best friend with him like he has
Show More
had in the others. In this book, Greg has to face a lot of challenges on his own. This would be a great book for patients that are middle school aged to read in the hospital and discuss.

A book in a series about a kid that is dealing with all of the typical boy, school bullying, friends, awkward growing up issues of life.
I think this book is a great way to get kids engaged, help them feel connected and open up discussions on school issues.

This book is about a boy name Greg when he was in middle school. Greg always wanted to know how it felt to be older. Greg now have responsibliites and realizes he wants to stay a kid as long as he can. This book teaches children that they should not try to grow up too fast and enjoy their childhood
Show More
life. This book was funny and also teaches a lesson.

"It's been almost two and a half weeks since me and my ex-best friend, Rowley Jefferson, had our big fight." This is the first sentence of an awesome book. Jeff Kinney's "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Ugly Truth" made me laugh out loud with its histarical jokes and interesting style.
This sequal of the
Show More
book is about Greg going through "teenage growing up time". He gets caught up in different kind of teen pressures like boy-girl parties, health class, and on top of all of this, he is still in the middle of his big fight with his ex-best friend Rowley. He gets through some 'teenage' changes in his life. He survives the first three months of grade 8, and by the end of the 3rd, he makes up with Rowley and learns that you shouldn't be in a rush to grow up, but enjoy the ride while it lasts as grandma Gammie says it.
The setting of this movie is the same of the other books in the series. At school, at Greg's house, however grandma Gammie's is a change. As I loved in the other books, I love the school and Greg's house. They are both settings which really suit the story. Gammie's house is new, but it also suits the story and how Greg's family is like. Overall, all of the setting were well described and suited the story really well.
From reading this book, if you read the other books, you'll probably think that this one will be good too, and it is. Very good. I recommend to Wimpy Kid fans obviously and just anyone who wants a laugh in their life! It's really funny and you'll definitely enjoy it! 4 stars overall. Great read through. (:

Greg's life is already pretty bad but now that he is growing up he has more responsibility and he never had that much. will greg make it through life being responsible or will he live his life being irresponsible?

This book is about how Gregory's body goes through change. He is not alone going through it his best friend is going through it with him to. You should also read this book because it can teach you a lot well for the boys.

This book is really good because it can show you what will happen over the
Show More
past years. It is also really good because it shows that friends would stick together through anything. This is why this book is so good.

Jeff Kinney's Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Ugly Truth made me LOL with Greg's egocentric personality and its funny situation. Greg's going through the awkward stages of puberty. Greg still suffers from an overstuffed ego. He's still overcritical of those around him. When Greg becomes overcritical and
Show More
portrays the "Everyone is stupid but me," attitude, he does something completely stupid and thoughtless. It's set at school and at home. Greg tries to be more popular at school by parading around his schoolbook that was previously owned by the most popular kid at school, Jordan Jury, and posting edited pictures of himself online. He receives "The Talk" from Grammie, who shares with him the horrors of growing up, and Greg now wants to hold on to his childhood as long as he can. I recommend this to kids who doesn't like reading, yet likes reading. :)

One of my favorite things is reading the latest Diary of a Wimpy Kid book, and this one is just as hilarious as the others.

Greg and Rowdy are on the outs, school is teaching them about the birds and the bees and Greg's uncle is getting married for the fourth time.

I found myself cackling out loud at
Show More
quite a few parts, especially the school sleepover. Nobody does middle school humor quite like Kenney.

Hurry up, book 6!

I've enjoyed the whole series and had a chance to meet Jeff Kinney a couple times. He's a great guy and I'm glad to see the success of this series. I did enjoy this 5th installment - although I didn't find it quite so laugh-out-loud funny as some of the others. But then again, I'm an adult female,
Show More
so not necessarily the demographic this is aimed at.

Greg seemed a little lost in this one without his sidekick, but who hasn't had a fight with their best friend? And Rodrick was conspicuously missing from most of this one. So it was a different story from the others because Greg is mostly alone.

I will definitely continue to follow this series - I'm wondering if it will go the whole way through high school?! Greg Huffley is a lovable loser and I'm just not sure how far you can go with that. But Kinney's combination of graphics and diary entries remains the perfect way to convey what's happening in Greg's life - at home and at school - in a lighthearted way.

I always surprisingly enjoy the Wimpy Kid series books as quick reads, although they always strike me as plotless. The Ugly Truth continues with Greg's journalistic attempts to figure out his life; he is growing up, "becoming a man," or at least that is what he wants to happen. Another notable
Show More
event is a recent separation from Rowley. The ending, I must say, was very abrupt and happened way too quickly. It seemed like Jeff Kinney just wanted to have a happy ending and wrapped it all up in two pages. These books are definitely not great literature and definitely will not teach your children any great plot or literature devices (or even great writing), but they're fun, quick reads to give your brain a break.

I said this book was 4 star because it had no BASIC summary maybe some puny other stuff but what does that matter. It was an okay book. :3

It is the latest book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. It is a fun book to read. Children at school, especially boys like to read it.
Working at a school setting gives me the opportunity to see a lot of fifth grade boys carrying this book around. Some of them even draw and write on the blank
Show More
pages in the book. They enjoy reading the book.
The graphics are funny and go well with the diaries.
Recommended for children in grade 5-8.

This book is the fifth book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. The main characters didn ' t change it's still Rowley and Greg. This book talk about the trouble Greg is having in his second year in middle school:advanced health lessons , his mom went back to school , very low in popularity points at
Show More
school... Even his best friend Rowley ditched him because of his selfishness. The plot of this story is how Greg is failing in middle school because of his laziness and his trying everything he could to earn himself a couple more popularity points at school.

The Ugly Truth continues with the trial and tribulations of growing up. Greg Hefley is now in middle school, has recently lost his best friend and has realized that he is too young for some things and too old for others. The book tells the daily stories of greg's life entering puberty, about his
Show More
family and dealing with his Mother going back to school, his school life and even his first job. All told with the funny style of all of the other Wimpy Kid books in the series.

This was a humourous book, however it is not quite as good as the first few books in the series. It is a must read for the kids who have already read the others in the series but is not good enough as a stand alone book.

I thought this was a good book because i like the humor in it. It wasn't the best out of all the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books that i've read. This book is mainly about Greg and Rownley's frienship. It also tell's about Greg's 8th grade year in middle school him having hard time. This book was pretty

good and funny. If you read this book you would like it!!!

Greg Heffley has a tough life. He broke his relationship with Rowley, he does not have a friend, his mother goes to school, so that means a fat lady, called Isabella comes to their house and "helps" them with chores. Plus, school is starting. And these are only a couple of Greg's problem, that he
Show More
has to solve in his life.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Ugly Truth by Jeff Kinney
Description from Goodreads: Greg Heffley has always been in a hurry to grow up. But is getting older really all it’s cracked up to be? Greg suddenly finds himself dealing with the pressures of boy-girl parties, increased responsibilities, and
Show More
even the awkward changes that come with getting older—all without his best friend, Rowley, at his side. Can Greg make it through on his own? Or will he have to face the “ugly truth"

I have enjoyed this series since the beginning. However, this latest book does not live up to the others. My feeling is not based on the writing. Kinney does an excellent job of portraying a middle school pre-teen. It’s just that after four other books, I was rather hoping Greg would have matured a little. Ok, I admit it, as a parent, Greg gets on my nerves. He’s not a wimpy kid, he’s annoying. However, Kinney knows what kids like and produces humor that kids will not only enjoy, but with which they can identify. Even though Greg is in middle school, he has a large following of fans at the third to fifth grade level. Taking that into account, I suspect that this is not the last Greg Hefley adventure.

Recommended for Grades 3 through 8.
