This is a reworking of the snow white story updated for the modern palet with no magic but it does hav aliens.
This was a cleverly invisioned reworking, I was concerned that the Father replaced the magic mirror - it sends the wrong signals about parents. As ever with

the snow white tale I dislike the way that step parents are portrayed.
nevertheless the idea of being a pop star replacing the idea of being a princess and that rather than a prince she in the end marries the most famous heart throb of a pop star fit well with the modern values system of what is important, what makes people worthy.
The language is easy to read, but is on the upper end for P2. I heartly dislike the use of speach bubbles in the illustrations as part of the main story line and this is not asisted by the fonts used in these. It is hard enough for beginner readers without having to deal with these difficult fonts.

Snow White and the Seven Aliens, by Laurence Anholt, is a silly story adapted from the fairy tale Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The book is part of a collection of other silly stories based on fairy tales such as Eco-Wolf and the Three Little Pigs and Little Red Ridding Wolf. In order for the
Show More
reader to understand the story, it is assumed that the reader understands the traditional fairly tales. For this reason, the age group is from 2nd-4th graders. The story includes black and white illustrations on each page; each picture takes up at least half of the page and sometimes the whole page. The words in the narrative are high frequency words in which elementary students can build their reading fluency. The content in the story is based on science fiction fantasy where the main character’s best friends are aliens who play in a popular musical group. Snow White, the main character, defies her evil step mother by becoming the lead singer of the popular alien band. I would recommend the book to readers who need to practice literacy skills to become confident readers.
