Notes
from the Foreword:
"[Archibald] Alexander was in his early seventies when he penned five "Letters to the Aged," which were appended to his classic treatise on biblical, experimental piety, Thoughts on Religious Experience. This born, born out of earlier writings which appeared in papers and journals, was first assembled and published in 1841. Three years later, an appendix was added to a new edition containing letters of counsel to the aged, the young, Christian mothers, and grieving widows and widowers. The appendix has not always been reprinted with Thoughts on Religious Experience. Hence, it is hoped that the republication of these letters to the aged will be a blessing to many who may not have read them before, no matter how old they may be."
