Description

Savannah, Georgia, is a city famous for its historic homes and gardens and the nostalgic atmosphere of its shaded streets and squares. Through a lively text and abundant illustrations - most of them in full colour - Classic Savannah celebrates a city that has taken many forms and played many roles over its two-and-a-half-century history: a tiny settlement on Yamacraw Bluff, a colonial capital, a thriving cotton port, a survivor of wars, and, perhaps most notably, a modern preservation success story.

Excellent photography and artwork. Text is mediocre, often awkward and confusing, but still informative. Great peak into Savannah's vast inventory of historical homes and buildings.

Nice look at some of savannah's historic homes. Starts out with history of the city fating back to colonial times. Pictures are very good but text is just so so. Includes Mercer house of John Williams fame but does not mention him name.
