Richard Mills arrived in S.A. by the Royal Admiral Jan 18 1838.

Note contradictory information (web): Richard was born in 1801. Passenger Lists from the "Royal Admiral" show the ship leaving London on 7th August 1840 and arriving in Port Adelaide on 13th December 1840. Included on these lists are Mills, Richard his wife Sarah (nee) Lincoln Children Mary, Richard, John, Elizabeth and Anne. The family started their life in South Australia at Brownhill Creek, a home built of stones from the hillside and grew, plants, shrubs and vegetables for the rapidly developing colony. Richard learnt about sheep and the country around. Richard made a selection of land in 1842 and became a squatter only a few miles further east, to what became known as the Old Garden and Section 5360, later known as Black Hill Valley. 1845-1846 a new house was built on Section 5359, also known as Black Hill Valley and was later to become known as "Millbrae".
