Agneta was born in February 1799 at Hochkirch. She was the second daughter of Georg and Gertraud Pilak. She had a sister and a brother. She married Johann Gottlieb Altus in the Rodewitz church. Agneta was the widow of Johann Gottlieb Altus when she moved with her six grown children, a daughter-in-law, son-in-law and five grandchildren from Saxony to South Australia. They travelled on the 'Alfred' which sailed from Hamburg in 1857 and arrived at Port Adelaide on 13 February 1858. Agneta and family immigrated in 1857 from Germany to Bethel, South Australia. Descendants and relatives lived in South Australia, New South Wales, Queensland and elsewhere. Includes family history in Germany.
