Illustrated with black and white photos and copies of historical documents, several maps and line drawings by Cliff Skene. For years, Wellington was the major crossing point of the Murray from Adelaide to Melbourne. A hand-drawn ferry was installed approximately 1839 and the township and area settled in 1846. Detailed local history featuring the early families and the local pastoralists. Still a popular crossing point today.

First white men to visit site of Wellington was Sturt 1830. Originally known as 'Morphett's Crossing'. Police guard stationed there in 1841. First purchasers of land were Archibald Elliott, J & A Cooke and Martha Pike of Wellington. Ferry established in 1839. McFarlane early settler.
