Description

This unique text is arranged in three parts according to the Trinity's roles, relationships, and activity. Tennent questions whether missions as currently conceptualized is adequate and he challenges the reader by building the book around key theological foundations such as "mission dei" and the "new creation" vision for the global church.--From publisher description.

World (i.e., outside of 'the West'), Tennent offers a comprehensive treatment of virtually everything in missions, firmly rooting the structure of the book in the doctrine of the Trinity and in his conviction that Christian missions are our participation in God's own mission. I particularly enjoyed the chapter devoted to conceptually translating the Christian message from one cultural setting to another, and the reminder that people of different cultures have widely different questions that can become pivotal for necessary theological reflection.
