This book explains what causes an animal to have albinism. Many different albino animals are profiled, including reptiles, birds, amphibians, fish and mammals. It even discusses albinism in humans. Exquisite photos add high interest.

This is a fascinating book that explores the condition of albinism.

Wonderful photos and explanations of this hereditary condition make this book a most informative read!

Halls begins with a description of albinism and how it occurs genetically. It's very rare and albino animals often can't survive in the wild. Small animals are obvious to predators and even large animals are susceptible to the sun's rays. Without pigment their skin and eyes are sensitive to UV

rays.

Photos accompany information about each of the albino animals presented in this book. Since they are so rare, most of the information is presented as case studies. Side boxes provide additional facts and answers about the animals. Halls has obviously done her research and she provides an extensive bibliography at the end of the book.

This is a topic that will surely be of interest to kids and with the great photos and interesting facts, it practically booktalks itself.

I thought this was a great book. It was very informative and even explained how the albino gene is passed on to animals. It managed to do this in a way I think a child would understand. It was explained very well. I liked this book because it looked at animals, which I think kids are very

interested in, but it went into detail about an unusual subject - albinism. The pictures were also great because albino animals are something we don't see a lot of. They were photographs that were mostly close ups, but were all really interesting to look at. Overall, I think this was a very informative book with great pictures that would hold a child's attention.

This book was about learning about Albino animals, their genetics and the challenges they face to survive. It actually can help teach, at a fairly high level (yet easy to understand) about genes and their affects on animals (and us).

I thought this was really wonderful. It was very informative, and made it easy to understand what albino was. I think that it seemed easy enough for a child to read and grasp the information.

This book is not a typical "feel good" one, but it provides interesting and great insight on what albinsm is. Engaging and the cover is eye-catching, though a bit scary.
