Book Summary: Katie and her family have moved to a new house. There is a pond nearby Katie’s parents make a rule that the children aren’t allowed to go to the pond without a grownup. Katie’s new friend, Sarah, wants Katie to go to the pond.
Personal Reaction: This is a very cute book that teaches children that their parents make rules to protect them. The pictures are also very good.
Extension Activities:
1. Write about one time you disobeyed your parents and why they made that rule.
2. Draw a picture of what Katie and her family might do at the pond.
