Return of the Rainbow Fish
Marcus Pfister's famous fish stars in a crop of new titles. In the paper-over-board Rainbow Fish and the Sea Monsters' Cave by Pfister, the big blue fish and the little blue fish bravely enter "the most dangerous place in the entire ocean" to help cure an ailing

"bumpy-backed fish" whose only hope is the red algae that grows on the other side of the sea monsters' hideout. Judiciously placed psychedelic scales on the aquatic creatures create a sense of movement (and glamour).

One of my favorite book and is great for children because of the fun colors throughout the book. Rainbow fish has just made new friends and he ends up helping another fish who looks different than he does. It is a cute book with a great message on acceptance.

This is the sequel to the book The Rainbow fish.

Another great story about friendship and not letting differences get into the way. Rainbow fish was brave and saved striped fish from the shark and helped striped fish to be part of the group.

This book is about the rainbow fish in a sequel. This book is very appropriate for children because it teaches about teamwork and making friends. It is science related because the book is about underwater sealife. This is a really nice book to have for children to read and enjoy and I would like to

have this book in my classroom.

This story was about the nonchalant lives of the shiny-scaled fish in the ocean. One day the Rainbow fish gave some of his shiny scales to other fish and they all became the best of friends. They played, ate, and did everything together. When a little striped fish interrupted their game of shiny
Show More
scale tag, the group didn’t allow the eager newcomer to play with them. The fish snubbed off but rainbow fish felt wrong about leaving, but he didn’t want to lose his best friends. A shark came along later that day. They all managed to escape to their hiding places but noticed the little striped fish was in danger. Rainbow fish bravely called all of his friends to help him save striped fish. Luckily, the shark became confused with fish fleeing towards him instead of away from him, and all of the fish became good friends playing fin tag.

I would recommend this book to a child, because it is an easy book to follow along with and learn different things about fish. The book shows some fear, and all children deal with fear. This book shows that even though you are scared, you need to be strong. We should help others when they need to

be helped.

This is another story about Rainbow Fish, but this time it also includes his new friends that he shared the scales with. They have created their own clicque, they all have one pretty scale and they only talk to the fish that have pretty colorful scales. One day a fish that is plain tries to talk to

them and they all ignore him, but true characteristics will come out when there is a shark attack!

This story helps again with friendships and everyday relationships with others.

I picked this book because I really enjoyed Rainbow Fish when I was younger so I wanted to read one of the sequels to Rainbow Fish. I had mixed feelings about this book because I was a little unsure on how they could make another book about Rainbow Fish but I really enjoyed reading it. I thought
Show More
the illustrations were fantastic. I also really enjoyed the writing in this book. I really felt like I was watching the entire plot unfold. The plot was also extremely good because you weren't sure if the little stripped fish was going to get away from the shark. I really wanted to keep reading to find out what happened next. I think the big idea of this book is friendship. In the beginning, Rainbow Fish's friends didn't let the little stripped fish play with them because he didn't have a special scale like they did. Rainbow Fish didn't agree with his friends but he didn't want to lose his friends so he agreed with them. Then at the end of the book, Rainbow Fish realizes that it wasn't nice to not let the little stripped fish play and goes to save him from the shark.

Character: Rainbow fish-conflicted between the "cool" thing to do and the right thing to do.
Striped fish-left out, lonely, sad because he is lacking a shiny fin.
Plot Summary: Rainbow fish is playing games with all the other fish who all have one shiny fin. A striped fish that does not have a

shiny fin comes along and asks to play with the other fish. All of Rainbow's fish friends refused to include him because he does not have what they do, a shiny fin. When danger comes into the picture, Rainbow fish is torn between loosing the approval of his friends or saving the striped fish from the shark.
Personal Evaluation: I love this book!! It is great for children! It is entertaining but also teaching a good moral lesson. It shows children how it feels to get left out of the group and the importance of standing up for what is right! I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone!

Beautifully illustrated book. The author is able to show the effects of right and wrong and friendship in a few short pages. A new striped fish wants to play with rainbow fish and his friends but the others say no. This makes Rainbow Fish sad as he remembers not having friends. When a shark comes

around and all the fish hide, Rainbow Fish bravely goes to find the stripe fish and invites him to hide with them and play. Great book to show choosing right from wrong and including others who don't look like you.

Rainbow Fish learns the lesson of standing up for others even when peer pressure to do the opposite is placed against someone who is different.
