Belinda goes to Boston with Mrs. Stafford-Smyth to become a nurse. Her life is not as exciting as she expected and she longs for home.

Another favorite in this series. I love the time that Belinda spends in Boston. The house she stays in is described so beautifully and she had opportunities that were beyond her realm of reality. Great book!

years later, Belinda is established as practise nurse at her brother Luke's surgery, and Melissa returns briefly to the family after training as a teacher, before returning to the West. Two young men start to show an interest in Belinda, and she has to make some difficult decisions.

I'm enjoying reading the continuation of this series which I first came across many years ago. It's not at all deep, and each book is fairly short; but the characters are realistic, so much so that I feel almost as if I know them; and there are some quite moving sections. I'm going to continue straight on to the last in the series after this, eager to know what happens to Belinda!
