Poor rabbit everywhere he goes trouble seems to follow him. Rabbit gets his friend mouse's plane stuck in a tree. Not to worry says rabbit I've got an idea. Rabbit gathers all the animals and stacks them on top of each other. Thinking his plan was going to work all the animals fall over causing
Show More
them to get very angry. At the end the rabbit says rabbit means well and he is my friend. This book teaches children no matter how many times your friend may mess up something you should never change the way you feel about them.

A regular cute aminals book with a dash of extra zazz--I like the thick-lined art and the way the aminals all keep changing size and the irrepressibility and when you turn the whole book sideways and that the mouse has an airplane and that the bunny is a scamp and not ascareded.

This book is a book about a young rabbit who has trouble knipping at his heels every where he goes. This book is a book that is wordless. It has a few words, but througout the story the author wants you to tell your version. The only words that are in it are basically prompts to get your story
Show More
started. At the end an unexpected situation happens that sends the jungle into a jumble.

I found myself getting into this story, becuase each time I read it I can change the story into what is going on in my life. Hopefully the outcome is as good as the story.

One of my classroom extensions is to have my students write what they want the story to say on a flip chart I will help them fill out in the fron of the room. Another one is to have my students create a wordless picture book and then have anither student read ot to see how different people intrepret things differntly.

Age Appropriateness: Primary
Genre:This book is a good example of a fantasy because it is about a mouse who lets his friend, rabbit, play with his new toy airplane. Although the characters are veyr believable, the animals do talk about the importance of friendship.

Rabbit is a good friend but wherever he goes trouble follows. He tries to help Mouse get his toy airplane out of a tree using an elephant, rhino, and other large animals. The illustrations are colorful and big making the story fun to follow. There are several pages without words so children could
Show More
come up with their own sounds and words for the story.

Classroom Connections: This book could be used to have discussions about friendship and making good choices.

I love the artwork in this book - very colorful, very well-done.

The storyline is great too - friends stick together, even if one of them is always getting you into scrapes.

I do find it a little awkward to read because, of course, there is no text for several pages in the middle of the book. At this
Show More
point one has to ask the children to describe the action, but I suppose that's an important pre-reading skill anyway.

Check this one out before buying it.

Rabbit and Mouse are best friends but wherever Rabbit is trouble follows. One day Rabbit gets Mouse's airplane stuck in a tree and has to use quick and creative thinking in order to get it down. After stacking a number of different animals on top of each other Rabbit successfully gets the airplane
Show More
down, but not without trouble close behind. Rabbit's ladder of animals comes tumbling down and they are furious with Rabbit. Regardless, Rabbit and Mouse remain best friends.

I like how the story illustrates forgiveness and friendship. From personal experience I know people can test both with their actions choices they make. Being able to fogive and remain friends allows for maturity that all kids will experience and learn from.

I would use this story in the classroom when there might be disagreements between students. I would emphasize that we all make mistakes but friendship and forgiveness is important.
This can also be used when talking about decision making and creative thinking, "How would you get Mouse's airplane out of the tree." A picture can be drawn and depending writing level a couple of sentences.

This book is adorably written, and it has beautiful illustrations. It is also very funny, and the children can have fun deciphering what is going on themselves, by viewing all of the photos.

This book did a lot of storytelling with pictures. It is about a mouse who has a friend that is a rabbit that seems to always have trouble following him. The mouse does things with rabbit even though he knows trouble will follow because they are friends. Rabbit seems to always have ideas and even
Show More
though the mouse knows trouble will follow, he still does the crazy things with Rabbit!

Nice pictures, but very few words. I think Oliver a bit too young for this book at the moment. The pictures tell the story.

Great use of color and expressions of the animals make this a fun book, even without a lot of words! Humor is also an element that keeps this story so engaging, as Rabbit , meaning well of course, decides to stack all the animals on top of one another to reach the airplane that is stuck in the
Show More
tree. As the tower of angry animals falls, Mouse swoops in to save the day by rescuing Rabbit from their wrath. So, all ends well, till Rabbit comes up with another crazy idea!

My Friend Rabbit is a good picture book. There is not a lot of writing so you have to look at the pictures and figure the story for yourself. It is about a mouse who has a friend that is a rabbit and trouble just seems to follow rabbit around no matter where he goes. The mouse gets his plane caught
Show More
in the tree and rabbit is trying his best to help the mouse get the plane down. Rabbit comes up with this great idea and he is gathering all of the other animals and placing them on top of one another and rabbit climbs on the very top to reach for the plane. They finally got the plane down awhile they all tumbled down upon each other. Then rabbit threw the plane agian and it got stuck in the tree again at the end, but rabbit had an idea.

The story was exciting for me as an adult because of the pictures and how I got to figure the story out for myself. I also think older students like first or second grade would really enjoy the book since they are older and can figure it oiut better.

I would have this story in my library in the classroom for my students. I do not think it would be a very good story to read to them.

This book is about a mouse who is friends with a rabbit who tends to get them into trouble. Rabbit throws the airplane up into a tree and it gets stuck. Rabbit says he has a plan and starts collecting animals to stack on top of each other to reach the plane. They can almost reach it but then they
Show More
all come falling down. All the animals are mad at Rabbit and start to go after him but Mouse comes to the rescue in his little plane. Rabbit is so happy he hugs Mouse. With his eyes covered, Mouse gets the plane stuck in a tree again. Rabbit says he has a plan.

This is a cute book and the pictures are outstanding. They are so simple but full of life and creativity. They make me want to write and illustrate my own book. The story is simple and short but it reads well out loud.

This book could be used in the classroom to teach friendship and forgiveness. Another idea would be to have older children draw out a picture that tells a story. The pictures in the book are really inspiring.

The story of the friendship between a mouse and a rabbit and the calamities that occur when the rabbit tries to help the mouse remove his plane from a tree.
LibraryThing member BrittanyLynn
This is a story about a mouse who is friends with a rabbit who always seems to find trouble no matter where he goes or what he does. In the beginning he is trying to fly an airplane that got stuck in a tree and he comes up with an elaborate scheme to get it down. The scheme causes more trouble and
Show More
the other animals involved are not happy with him, but he means well and mouse is still his friend.

I thought this was a really great story about friends and it really resonated with me because I had a friend in high school that was the same way. Trouble always seemed to find her no matter what, even if her intentions were good; which always made for a pretty interesting time.

One way that I think that this story could be used in the classroom would be a lesson on unconditional love and accepting people for who they are. On the other hand though, I think it could also be used in a way to teach young children that the people you surround yourself with can have an impact on you and how people perceive you and that you should surround yourself with a good group of people.

Mouse has a big friend full of good intentions, but he manages to get them or maybe himself, into lots of troubles. Every time something happens, Rabbit comes up with “great” ideas that works better to get him into more trouble. Eric Rohmann makes use of excellent images that speaks better than
Show More
words to depict what Mouse and Rabbit is doing and/or planning, providing evidence to what is coming next.

Summery: This is an adorable little story about two friends, Mouse and Rabbit, who seem to find trouble wherever they go. When Rabbit accidently gets Mouse's toy plane stuck in a tree, he comes up with a plan to get it down. He gathers a variety of animals--alligators, ducks, rhinos, and even
Show More
squirrels--to stack up next to the tree so little Mouse can stand on top and get his plane back. This plan fails when the animal holding Mouse slips, and everyone falls. No one is happy with Rabbit, and they begin to chase him. Mouse comes flying to his rescue in the toy plane, and saves Rabbit. Rabbit is so grateful he hugs Mouse so tightly he crashes right back into the tree.

Reflection: I can't help but read this story and think about all the times my friends and I have gotten ourselves in trouble by putting a plan into motion that just got us into more trouble than we started out with. Mouse and Rabbit stick by each other's side and try to help one another, even in the worst of situations. This book reminds me, even in the simplest sense, how important friendship is.
As far as the illustrations...they are incredible. I think I spent more time looking at pictures than I did reading the words. The colors are bright, and you can almost feel the motion.

Extension ideas: I would have the children write about and draw their best friend. I'd perhaps play a game where a partner was involved and teamwork was required.

Mouse tells a humorous story of how his friend Rabbit is always getting into mischief, even though he means well. With the use of heavy outlining and simple yet vibrant colors, these illustrations seem to jump off the page.

PreSchool-Grade 1-A simple story about Rabbit and Mouse, who, despite Rabbit's penchant for trouble, are friends. When Rabbit launches his toy airplane (with Mouse in the pilot seat at takeoff) and it gets stuck in a tree, he convinces his friend that he will come up with a plan to get it down. He
Show More
does so by stacking animals on top of one another (beginning with an elephant and a rhinoceros) until they are within reach of the toy. The double-page, hand-colored relief prints with heavy black outlines are magnificent, and children will enjoy the comically expressive pictures of the animals before and after their attempt to extract the plane. The text is minimal; it's the illustrations that are the draw here.

Genre: Fantasy
Review: This is a good example of fantasy, because animals cannot talk and fly little airplanes.
Comments: - Ask, What idea do you think rabbit has?
-Ask, could a rabbit really up elephants, hippos, and rhinos?
-Create a plan that you think rabbit should

have used to retrieve the airplane.

If we want to find a book which beautifully illustrated and written, yet strongly carrying moral values to readers, My Friend Rabbit is a perfect one. My Friend Rabbit is a story about self-esteem, motivation, friendship, and imagination. It speaks about working together to solve problems. Besides,
Show More
it is a very powerful story on how we can understand our friend just the way she or he is. It is an adventuring experience of two best friends, Rabbit and Mouse with full of fantasy and humorous storyline. When Mouse has a new toy, a plane, he lets Rabbit to play with him. However, the plane is stuck in a tree, and Rabbit tries to find solution by asking his friends, elephant, hippopotamus, crocodile, and many others to stack in order to save the plane. The trouble comes up afterward because it is a very high stack of huge animals, then it cannot hold long and they all fall off. Fortunately, Mouse can get the plane and fly carrying Rabbit with him. A problem is there when the plane, Mouse, and Rabbit stuck in a tree one more time. It is ended by Rabbit’s saying that he has idea to help them. Eric Rohman leaves out a window for readers to see and think what Rabbit might do to help his friend. Imagination is a powerful element in this book.
About its art, the illustration is solid, think, yet full of vivid colors. Blue is dominant as it suggests a motivation and joyful moment. It is a great book for problem-solution theme. Highly recommended for children in pre-K, K to 3rd grade.

This is a wordless picture book about a rabbit. It can used in the classroom to have students come up with their own story to go along with the pictures.

My Friend Rabbit is a story about a friendship between a rabbit and a mouse. The rabbit is a risk taker and seems to find trouble wherever he goes. In the story the rabbit’s airplane gets stuck high in a tree. He gathers up all the animals he can find. His hope is that if he stacks them all on
Show More
top of one another, they will be tall enough to reach the airplane. I encourage you to read the book to find out what happens.

I do not consider myself a risk taker. I am, however, married to a risk taker. The risk taker in my life keeps things exciting and encourages me to step out of my safety box. I need to read this book more often to remember the patience that mouse has.

This book has few words. I would use this book in the classroom as an example of how words are not always necessary when telling a story. I would use it during reading and art. The game would consist of the children drawing a picture and then me trying to guess what the story was about. This book could also be used on a lesson about animals or about the patience of friendship.

Mouse has a friend, Rabbit, who, though he means well, always gets into some trouble. Fortunately, he always has a fun plan to get out of trouble too. This is a book about how we not only tolerate our friends' differences (or shortcomings), we embrace them. It also has fun events--like a mouse

riding in a toy airplane or Rabbit stacking a bunch of very tall animals on top of each other to retrieve the plane from a tree. The illustrations are beautiful and the bold black outlines are eye-catching. The camaraderie and excitement of the two friends is evident from the pictures. In fact, the pictures tell much of the story and provide much of the humor as Rabbit stacks the big animals. this is a great read for ages 3 to 7.

My Friend Rabbit is intended for an eight month old to a 5 year old. There is not much text and therefore would probably be considered a wordless book. It is definitely an enjoyable read aloud with a friendship theme. The art is expressionistic to a slight degree. There is a black border around
Show More
each page and the figures are outlined in black as well. Mouse gets a present and rabbit sorta takes over and before mouse could say "squeak" , his airplane(the gift) had been thrown way to high and too close to a tree. Friend rabbit begins to pile" jungle animals" one on top of another, ending with himself, standing on top, holding a squirrel, who in turn is holding mouse. Mouse reaches out to get his plane from the high tree branch. Animals all come tumbling down and mouse and rabbit take off in the plane to their next mishap. This picture book has the theme of friendship and sharing and how mouse copes with rabbit, who means well, but trouble follows him wherever he goes. Excellent book for children to do a story retell or journal entry.
