Richard K. MacMaster, Samuel L. Horst, and Robert E Ulle combined efforts to produce this history, interpretation, and documents of the Mennonites and other peace churches in America and their relationships to the militia during the years 1739 through 1789. The need for men and money in the Colonial Wars and the American Revolution directly challenged their concepts of freedom of conscience.
