Tanglewood Tales for children. These stories take you on a ride through the whimsical path to imagination from the gothic tale of the White Old Maid to the Snow Image that comes to life until it's sad demise before a heated instrument. Even the historical musings of Fort Ticonderoga & the memories of long ago of Puritans & the battles of Concord bridge take on a curious tale as if you were there along side the shadows lingering still. The last 2 sections of the volume gathers Hawthorne's popular, at least at the time, children stories, a retelling of ancient Greek mythology. Hawthorne was truly a gifted writer as one can see from his wide range of topics & imagination.
