This is a book based on facts, no part about it is fiction. It tells about the life on a New England fishing island. This would be a good book to teach children about seasons and how to recognize and be proud of things their hometown does. this would be a good book for first through fourth graders.

This is a book based on facts and tells about the life on a remote New England fishing island. This would be a good book to teach children about the four different seasons and explain how the fisherman fish, dig of clams, and how the locals prepare for the tourists in the summer.

Surrounded By Sea by Gail Gibbons is a nice book. In fact this book is about our island, Matinicus. It is a very nice book. I like it very much. It shows our school house. It has my Dad's fishing boat in it . There is a lot of lobstering. All of the fishermen have their own boat and their own buoy

color. The fishermen can't drive and haul up their traps at the same time so they have a sternman who lives in a little house not far from their boss's house. It is called a shop. In the summer a farmers market is held at the church. We have a store that works until August and then it opens back up in April. This is a great book and I hope that if you read it you will like it.
