Brown's retelling focuses on two modern day children discovering the fountain which has a place for both people and dogs to drink, reading the inscription and following the story to the Grey Friar's graveyard. Here a gardener recounts Bobby's tale. A sympathetically illustrated sweet story, and one that hopefully does has a grain of truth as it's basis.
