Much to her mother's dismay, Christina Katerina adopts the box her mother's new refridgerator comes in and turns it into all sorts of imaginary treasures in her front yard. First it's a castle, then a clubhouse, then a race car - and each one provides hours of entertainment for Christina Katerina
Personally, I have a hard time identifying with her mother who is mortified that the old refridgertor box is on the front lawn.
Oh and for another good book about the fun a big box and a little imagination can provide read "Crispin: The Pig Who Had it All" by Ted Dewan.

I loved this book growing up. For some reason I thought the pictures, using only 3 colors, were fantastic and I never got tired of the story.

Wonderful, timeless, I hope it stays in print forever, but in case it doesn't I'm keeping the used copy I bought online. I do think it's unfortunate CK's friend is nicknamed Fats" but he is just a bit of a bully, so it all works together quite well.
