It took a few times for this book to grow on me, but my son is quite partial to it. I've found that the short poems on each page hold his attention better than many story books. He also loves to memorize and recite poems, which I believe, is a wonderful way of learning for children.

Summary:
Thanksgiving Day at Our House is a book with a lot of different poems about Thanksgiving. There are poems about the Mayflower, the first Thanksgiving, and about cleaning up after Thanksgiving Dinner.
Personal Reaction:
This book was okay. It was not my favorite poetry book that I have
Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. I would use this book in a unit about Thanksgiving. I would read it and talk about how the book has different was people do their Thanksgiving. Then I would ask the students how they did their Thanksgivings and have them right it down in a story they write about their Thanksgiving.
2.I would use this book in a unit about November. Since the book talks about things that happen in November I would have the students make a list of the things in the book that they like best about November. I would put then up on display so we could compare and contrast their favorite things about November.
