This book is a realistic fiction book. It is about a little boy who goes through the five stages of grief after the death of his father. The pictures are beautiful hand drawn illustrations. The reading level is first or second grade and the curricular connection is dealing with grief.

This is a beautiful illustrated book about a boy who loses his father and the young boy goes through the 5 stages of grief.

I am not sure I would use this book in my classroom. I would offer to send it home with a child who might need it. (With the parents permission of course)

Goes through the 5 stages of grief. Easy read. Potentially could give to a student going through grief. Uses rhyming.

This was a wonderful story by Lucille Clifton. This book is about a young boy who's father dies. It discusses the 5 stages of grief and how the child deals with them. This story is a great way to help children that may be going through the loss of a loved one. The child may be able to relate to the

main characters emotions. The author does a great job of depicting the child's emotions, making the book more relateable.

This story describes the bumpy road a chid must experience because of his fathers death. I would recommend this story to children 4-6.
