A great informational book. This book tells all about the different animals you might find on a farm and gives their alternate names. Although in part the animals seem to be talking, they are talking amongst themselves and simply the author has translated it into readable form for children, sort of

like narration. The them in this book is carried out beautifully and it has been made very clear that the author had no intent of steering off course.

A lovely book of baby animals: what they are called, what they eat, what they look like. Garth Williams artwork is the main appeal of this book. Always a joy

This book gives a brief overview of some of the animals that can be found on a farm and some highlights of what they do. (For instance, a baby horse can start walking on the day it is born.) There's really no story here in terms of plot, just an introduction to these animals. Still, it's sure to be

interesting to young children who are just learning these facts about animals. In addition, there's the occasional remark from these animals, such as the baby ducks asking the baby chicks to come for a swim. The delicate illustrations are both accurate and inviting, making the reader want to reach out and cuddle the kittens, pet the puppies, or touch the silky hairs of the piglets. The version I have is the little Little Golden Book one, so it's miniature status is perfect for tiny hands.
