My experience with the sequel to the Dwarves is similar as with its predecessor: nice story in a nice world, but too straightforward and just too simple. Characters are still the caricatures of themselves (especially Ireheart and Rodario) which is quite funny, but doesn't do the story justice.

Also, Girdlegard and its history deserve much more attention in my opinion. Finally, the (few) moral dilemma's of the characters in the book are not investigated in depth.

So, in general I like the world, the story and Tungdil, the main character, but I'm not really satisfied by the book as a whole. I read somewhere that Markus Heitz writes exceptionally fast, but I'm afraid it shows in his work.

500 pages in and I can't do it. Nothing has happened. The first book had female and male characters with agency and a solid goal. The sequel is a muddled mess. Are the orcs the evil to be defeated or the alf or the dwarf killers? I get the feeling the intrigue of this book is an attempt to imitate

the success of Game of Thrones. I don't want to give this book anymore attention. Pass do not buy.
