This is more than a story of a family, led by conscience and faith, hiding Jews during the occupation of The Netherlands by the Nazis. They gave example of how to handle the adversities of life, and still remain human. Contrary to other reviews saying the were arrested for hiding Jews, they were

actually arrested for violating varied rationing laws. they were suspected of hiding Jews, but no evidence was found. They also had connections with the underground, though apparently for the sisters, not enough to get them executed. They lost all to help their motherland, their fellow Hollanders, and those who couldn't help themselves in this cruel world they found themselves in. They worked with the disabled, hid young people subject to seizure for forced labor, assisted the underground, and hid the oppressed from harm. A bit preachy at points, it is still an entertaining and enlightening watch.
