Description

We live in a culture that produces hopelessness with astounding consistency. When everything seems chaotic and we are faced with a multitude of negative realities, we might be tempted to say that nothing makes sense anymore. But we are not alone-God walks with us and his presence fills us with hope. Because of this we are able to smile in the midst of our di culties. Despair is defeated because God is with us. Hope does not disappoint! What gives you hope? What are your hopes and dreams-for yourself, your children, your church, your community, your nation? What sustains that hope and turns those dreams into reality? What are some of the unique ways you bring hope to people in your life? The contributors featured in Beautiful Hope offer intensely personal answers to these questions. Some of them are well-known authors and speakers, but many are ordinary Catholics dealing with everyday life with all its challenges and problems, just like you. When I saw the title of this book, I felt it would be appropriate to read because of the sadness and stress I feel about our country's and the world's conditions. It contains inspirational and touching essays which teach great lessons on hope. There are various contributors from Catholic religious

and lay people. One of my favorite Christian authors, Matthew Kelley, wrote the Prelude and the Introduction is by Pope Francis.

If you are looking for a thought-provoking book to help you grow in your Faith, this would be a good book to read during Lent, or just any other time. The book is divided into four parts: (1) Choosing Hope, (2) Hope in the Church, (3) Hope in Action, and (4) Becoming Hope. I chose to read it over a period of time which gave me a chance for reflection on the uplifting essays. It certainly helped me to better understand the hope that Jesus brings. Highly recommended.
