Catena Aurea: A Commentary on the Four Gospels Volume 2

Main description: The second volume of the Catena aurea deutsch presents the East Middle German translation of the Catena aurea super Marcum by Thomas Aquinas. This oeuvre, created in the 14th century, is transmitted in a magnificent manuscript in Torun. This edition contains the most comprehensive compilation of all translations of the Catena aurea known to date. These texts are followed by the copy of a fragment from the close of the 15th century, containing a Bavarian translation of this commentary on St. Mark's Gospel.
