This book is loaded with wonderful cute and humorous poems, mostly rhyming. Most would appeal to any child, and most of the poems have a delightful picture or two.

My favorite poems of this book was Kindness to animals, because it was sweet, and I belive this to be true about most children. They are truly kind to all animals. It gives me a warnm fuzzy feeling. I also liked the poem Mother. It is so true that out of all the things in the world we only get one

mother. I would use this book to show kids the differnt types of poems. Then I would have the kids pick a favorite poem, and have them write one of their own in the same style.

This book makes reading poetry fun for any child. The book illustrates children of all races interacting with each other and nature. These poems are fun to read as they offer verses of proverbs, nursery rhymes, and folk songs.

A collection of historical poetry, Gyo Fujikawa creates a book that displays illustrations of community; children playing with other children regardless of race and gender and even involving animals and natural wonders. From Emily Dickinson and Shakespeare to William Blake and Kate Greenway,

Summary: Small book yet it's really loaded with cute, witty, wonderful and humorous poems, mostly rhyming. Most would appeal to any child and to the adult reading it aloud to everyone. Has a few nice pictures as well to help promote the meaning of the book.

Personal Reaction: Just like most kiddos, my kids are all about making words rhyme, repeat, and sound goofy. They would laugh at you if you made a joke of of peas and carrots. Kids are so funny when they are young.

Extension Ideas: Having the kids sing what you are reading works well from my reflection assignment experiences.
