'The Popcorn Book' by Tomie dePaola is a story about two brothers that ask their mom if there is any popcorn in the house that they can pop. The mom tells them that it is in the refridgerator, which is odd to them. The boys look up the history of popcorn to answer their question and tell the

history of popcorn. The book shows all of the different cultures that popcorn came from and describe in detail the story of corn and how it became popcorn. The boys end up putting too much corn in the pot and have popcorn overflowing in the kitchen. The story ends with the boys saying that the best part of popcorn is that it's good to eat. This story by dePaola is a great fun, informational and multicultural book.

In my opinion, this is a great book. This book is super informative and has beautiful illustrations that allow the reader to fully understand the concepts and ideas that are being presented. There is a section of the book where the author describes historical uses of popcorn and the corresponding

illustrations show the uses in a fun and engaging manner. The language used in this book is descriptive and concise. When explaining the kinds of popping corn, the author makes connections to knowledge that the reader may already have (strawberry corn's husks look like strawberries). The big idea of this book is to inform the reader about the history and uses of popcorn.

This book is appropriate for kindergarten and up to third grade. This book presents a fun way to learn about a favorite snack. There were some things in this book I did not even know! I feel like if I had children and read them this book, they would want to try the recipes.

A fun and interesting book about the history of popcorn! One twin brother prepares a batch while the other reads aloud factoids from his book. Includes coverage of legends, storage tips and even two recipes.

I just don't know if I believe everything that was said. And the author's 'recipes' say that a child shouldn't be alone with the stove under age 12 - but these children do not look that old.

When you think about popcorn, you don't exactly think about about Native Americans before our nation's birth but popcorn is significantly older than most know. The book even refers to ancient popcorn older than 5,000 years old. The story goes over some history of popcorn and some folklores about

it. Its a cute way of getting information about a delicious snack through to children.
