You could assign each student or group an animal to draw and have them right the fact either on another paper or on the back and then show the class when they are done.

The pages of this interesting picture book describe some of the record holders in the animal world like the strongest and the smallest. This is kind of two books in one. The first is simple sentences describing the record and the creature such as "The smallest bird is the bee hummingbird." reading

the book like this is appropriate for really little children who don't have the attention span for more text. But on each page is another couple of sentences that give more information as well as a silhouette of a human next to the creature for comparison.

The illustrations are torn and cut paper collages and the craftsmanship is striking. There is a lit of beautiful detail. I was especially enamored of the delicate torn tissue paper that made up the hair on a spider's legs. My only problem is that I wasn't fond of the illustrator's color choices. For example, the giraffe is on a plain teal background which clashes horribly and gives a discordant effect rather than a breathtaking vista.

I found the book very interesting and informative and the illustrations beautifully crafted but something just wasn't quite right. 3.5 stars.

This is a good example of an informational book because it not only tells which animals are biggest, strongest fastest but it puts it into relation to what a human could do. This makes it easier to see why these traits are so special or unique

This would be a great book for K-3rd grade. It has wonderful pictures of different animals. This book shows what animals are the biggest, smallest, fastest, etc. For each animal there is information about the animal as well. It is informative and fun.

This non-fiction book provides information about the largest, strongest, tallest, smallest, slowest, longest, and fastest animals on earth. Basically, the author has picked out animals that hold 'records' for one of these characteristics and wrote a simple sentence about its record and included an

This book compares different animals by size, speed, and strength. It would be good to use during an animal theme or during a lesson on measurement.

Jenkins explains the animals that are the fastest, slowest, strongest, tallest, longest, etc. For ear animal there is a beautiful realistic illustration along with a short blurb about the animals speed, strength, and size. I would use this book in my class to teach about the differences in animals.

I would also let the students pick an animal to research about so that they could write about it and draw a picture of the animal. When doing this a science lesson would be tied in with reading and english.

Whose the strongest and fastest and biggest in the Animal kingdom? Find out it this wonderfully illustrated book.

This was a really great book to me. As humans we always want to what the biggest, fastest, greatest, strong, most superior thing is in every situation and this book informs us to the T. From the smallest to the tallest and biggest to fastest this book points out a lot of things students probably

question. My favorite topic addressed was the one on the snail, I loved the art work and I love that even though the snail is one of slowest animals he still got his own page!

This was a very creative book and creative way to introduce different animals to children. It gives the answers to questions like what is the biggest animal, or the fastest animal. With each "record" holder is a realistic illustration of that animal and some basic information about that animal.

I read this book with my first graders in my internship and absolutely loved it. It showcased a different animal on each page and gave fun and interesting facts that many people would not know about each different animal. The pictures were great and very detailed, and the book kept my attention

throughout it's entirety. Informational and nonfiction books can sometimes become a tad boring and tedious to read, but this book did an amazing job of making readers want to turn the page to find out more unique qualities about other animals. For example, on one page the book drew the actual size of a certain type of spider found in another country. It was HUGE (yuck!). While it made me cringe, I know the students loved having a visual of what the real size of the spider was. This book is specifically facts about animals and there is no main idea.

Steve Jenkins presents the best of the best in Biggest, Strongest, Fastest as he compares the size, strength, speed, and life span of a handful of remarkable animals to that of humans. Take note of his unique style of illustrating as you see just how these animals measure up.

compares a variety of animals to humans in many ways.

The biggest snake, the anaconda, can swallow a deer or goat whole. The smallest mammal, the Etruscan shrew, could easily sleep in a teaspoon. In a striking full-color collage, each spread of Biggest, Strongest, Fastest portrays an animal that stands out in the animal world as the largest, slowest,

longest lived. Readers can see the animal's size in relation to something familiar, and a chart on the last page indicates the size, weight, and diet of each animal, as well as where it can be found in the wild. Biggest, Strongest, Fastest is an entertaining, informative introduction to the "world records" held by fourteen members of the animal kingdom.

This book had really unique art, it would be fun to have the kids make art projects with It would be good to pair with math as well, and calculate the size of the animals. I really like that the book gives size comparisons with humans. They could model this strategy and show how to compare their

This book talks about all different kinds of animals and insects, describing cool or amazing facts about them. It sets it up in a great way for kids who are not yet reading to just be able to look at the pictures and be entertained and work on how print works. It also is great for just beginning

readers with simple text. And it's great for advanced readers becuase the facts are right by each picture with more information.

This book is all about the biggest, strongest, and fastest animals in the world. It has different pictures of these animals and has simple facts about them being large, strong, or fast. It would be a good read to do a compare and contrast lesson because you could compare animals that are strong

with animals that are big or fast, etc. Students could look for facts about big animals, fast, animals, or strong animals.
