This was and is one of my favorite "colors" books, for many reasons: the engaging narrator (a flashy parrot, with a mouse sidekick), the charming illustrations, and the fact that it not only introduces colors but also demonstrates how mixing pigments creates new ones--not just the standard roygbiv

My oldest daughter now 20 years old, loved this book so much, it is now in tatters.(I wouldn't dream of parting with it.) The pictures are beautiful, with bright colors. It has very little reading on each page, so as not to lose anyones attention. A great way to learn colors. It also has unusual

colors for example, olive.
