Description

In Why Forgive? Arnold lets the untidy experiences of ordinary people speak for themselves--people who have earned the right to talk about forgiving. Some of these stories deal with violent crime, betrayal, abuse, hate, gang warfare, and genocide. Others address everyday hurts: the wounds caused by backbiting, gossip, conflicts in the home, and tensions in the workplace. The book also tackles what can be the biggest challenge: forgiving ourselves. These people, who have overcome the cancer of bitterness and hatred, can help you unleash the healing power of forgiveness in your own life. Why Forgive? these stories and decide for yourself.

Description

Brings together incredible true stories of ordinary people scarred by violence who refused to let hatred control their lives. Together they create an irrefutable testimony to the power of forgiveness, one that will challenge, inspire, and encourage others wherever they are on the road to healing.

In Why Forgive? Arnold avoids glib pronouncements by letting the untidy experiences of ordinary people speak for themselves – people who have earned the right to talk about overcoming hurt, and about the peace of mind they have found in doing so. "Hurt" is an understatement, actually, for these stories deal with the harrowing effects of violent crime, betrayal, abuse, bigotry, gang warfare, and genocide. But Why Forgive? examines life's more mundane battle scars as well: the wounds caused by backbiting, gossip, strained family ties, marriages gone cold and tensions in the workplace. As in life, not every story has a happy ending – a fact Arnold refuses to skirt. The book also addresses the difficulty of forgiving oneself, the futility of blaming God, and the turmoil of those who simply cannot forgive, even though they try.

Twelve years ago, Why Forgive? appeared in bookstores under the title "Seventy Times Seven" – a reference to Jesus’s advice on how many times we should be ready to forgive in one day. Today, translated into more than 20 languages, this modest but compelling volume of true stories has been reprinted hundreds of times, and sold or distributed to audiences around the world.

Why Forgive? Read these stories, and decide for yourself.

A compilation of incredible true stories of ordinary people scarred by violence who refused to let hatred control their lives create an irrefutable testimony to the power of forgiveness--one that will challenge, inspire, and encourage others wherever they are on the road to healing.

commanded thus: “But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” (Matthew 6:15) This concept is repeated throughout the Bible from Genesis through the Pauline letters. The apologist Matthew Henry, commenting on Matthew 6:15, made this statement: “Here is a promise, If you forgive, your heavenly Father will also forgive. We must forgive, as we hope to be forgiven. Those who desire to find mercy with God, must show mercy to their brethren. Christ came into the world as the great Peace-maker, not only to reconcile us to God, but one to another.”

If you need help to overcome something that has consumed or preoccupied you with anger, resentment, emotional pain, need for revenge, and similar feelings, download this e-book for interesting stories of people burdened thus, how they coped, and how they eventually came to resolution through forgiveness.

(Maybe you need to forgive yourself...? “Why Forgive?” addresses this issue also.)
