Description

"Narwhal and Jelly are back and Narwhal has a new obsession...peanut butter! He's so obsessed he even wants to change his name to...that's right...Peanut Butter! Ever-sensible Jelly isn't so sure that's the best idea, but is all for Narwhal trying new things (instead of just eating waffles all the time, no matter how delicious waffles are). In this third book, Narwhal and Jelly star in three new stories about trying new things, favorite foods and accepting who we are. Always funny and never didactic, this underwater duo charms again through their powerful combination of positive thinking, imagination and joyfulness"--

Doings of a narwhal and a jellyfish are whimsical, silly, and very scattershot. Nothing here is particularly funny or memorable. It's one of those books that gives the impression of having taken about as long to write as it does to read.

In the third volume of Ben Clanton's children's graphic novel series Narwhal and Jelly, Narwhal learns the importance of trying new things. In this case, he discovers peanut butter. However, Narwhal does not also learn moderation, and shortly after changing his name it Peanut Butter and consuming

all the peanut butter in the ocean, he soon grows to be the size of a peanut.

It's a cute little story, though it would have been better, considering the target demographic, if it had actually addressed the theme of moderation. Nevertheless, it's what you'd expect from a Narwhal and Jelly book: some silly adventures, some quick facts about sea life, and the further adventures of of a comic within a comic about a superhero waffle and his sidekick strawberry.

If you liked the first two, you're sure to enjoy this one. I wouldn't recommend starting here, though. Hopefully we'll see even more silly adventures from Clanton in the future, as my young reader certainly loves getting these books when they come out.

I haven't read the other Narwhal and Jelly books, so this was new to me. I thought it was funny and cute, but my nephew (five and obsessed with sea life) LOVED it! That's a ringing endorsement in my opinion. The illustrations are simple but work well with the format and story.

Another fantastic addition to the Narwhal and Jelly series. Ben Clanton has created such endearing and hilarious characters akin to Mo Willem's Elephant and Piggie. Narwhal and Jelly are the best of pals, having adventures, eating waffles and discovering new delicacies. One of the really special

things about the series and Peanut Butter and Jelly in particular is the "Facts" pages where Clanton gives you some non fiction information about narwhals. jellyfish and other sea dwelling creatures. Peanut Butter and Jelly is a clever comic, perfect for the early or reluctant reader. It's silly and fun and perfect for those just starting their journey as readers. In a surprise twist, Clanton has also added and comic within the comics with the Super Waffle and Strawberry Sidekick adventures. A simple concept executed so brilliantly. The drawings are simple and oh so cute, you will want real life Narwhal's and Jelly's to add a little flair to your book shelf.

This was my favorite Narwhal book in the series. They're comics, with several stories in each book, with a section of facts about sea creatures.
My nine year old loves these comics, and I hear him giggling when he reads them. My three year old loves to look at the pictures and giggles when

something silly happens.
We have all in the series and will continue buying more.

Another super cute edition of the ocean friends, Narwhal and Jelly. Jelly enticed Narwhal to try a peanut butter cookie, which spawns a series of funny shorts about Narwhal's great love of peanut butter and the hijinks that ensue. Funny and witty as always.

The best children's series often have disappointing follow ups. They dump so much wit into that first great book, it seems all they can do is copy the first. Maybe this is just the style, an attempt to satisfy the audience of juvenile readers who demand repetition. While Ben Clanton's first Narwhal
Show More
and Jelly book was fabulous and entertaining, the second left so much to be desired. Even my son, who loved the first book, seemed less than excited about Super Narwhal and Jelly Jolt (he's fifteen, by the way). So I wasn't sure what to expect from this third book in the series. I must say I'm quite pleased.

Peanut Butter and Jelly relies on the same unexpected randomness that made the first book so good. It's a little more out-there, as peanut butter has some strange effects on Narwhal, but it's these random effects that make this book so silly. It may not match the caliber of the easily distracted, waffle-eating Narwhal of the first book, but it certainly comes close.

I haven't gotten my fifteen year old's opinion yet. I may update this if he has anything wise to say. (What am I talking about? He's fifteen. He's not going to have much to say about it.)

Just looking at these two makes me smile!
Another fun read about Narwhal and Jelly, a.k.a. Peanut Butter and Floyd! "A Sweet and Salty Story" was my favorite, as Jelly tries to get Narwhal to try a food other than waffles! (good luck!)
These two are just fun! And what in fact is the world record for

waffle eating? :-)
Also, I like the factoid on the back that the author ate 41 PB&J sandwiches while making this book! That's some kind of research and dedication!

This series just keeps getting better! Approachable enough for early readers but still fun for older kiddos. It is perfect fun!

I'm so thrilled that I won an early review copy of this book. My 4 year old Godson is obsessed with peanut butter, so I knew this would totally be his kind of book lol The story was cute, and it kept him entertained the whole way through. I've never read any of the other Narwhal books, but now that

I know this is a series I'm probably going to checking out the other books. I definitely recommend this book if your kid likes a goofy humor.

I didn’t like the storyline quite as much as the previous two, but it was still cute and fun. Narwhal discovers the joys of peanut butter and we learn a few of his nicknames.

Excellent addition to Punny Friday! My 7th graders loved it! They even thought it was "Fin-tastic"!!

What a cute book. I adore the Narwal and Jellyfish characters. This book tackles picky eaters who will not even try a new food. It teaches them to try it in a cute way that would make any child tempted. The Illustrations are adorable !

What an adorable book ! I wish I had this when my children were young. Fantastic art, expressive and cheerful. I love how it dealt with picky eaters. If your child is avoiding foods this might saw them to give the food a try. Cute story that children will connect with and read over and over.
