Coach thinks Fly Guy is too small for football, but what Coach doesn't know is that Fly Guy and Buzz have a plan! An easy read with fun illustrations, this is a good book for readers who are just starting out on their own.

Out of the books I have read, this may have been the best. I enjoy sports and the way the author wrote using them really put a smile on my face. The story was about a fly and his friend that were on the football team. The character development really wasn’t there because it’s a series of books,

however it wasn’t that important. The plot of the story was created and presented perfectly. No one would expect a fly to play football (the coach even said a fly can’t play football). The fly even attempted to show the coach he could play but it failed and the coach wouldn’t let him play. The illustrations really enhanced the book. The book wasn’t very descriptive but the pictures allowed me to see what was really happening, like when the bug tried to catch and kick the ball. The point of view was third person and it gave the reader, me, a good overlook of what was happening. The language used wasn’t too descriptive but straight and to the point. The book was full of short sentences, like when s player got hurt and fly guy got to get into the game, all it said was “and the player got hurt”. This allowed Fly Guy to get in the game and he performed well. The illustrations along with the short yet simple sentence structure provided a good view of what was happening. The Fly was able to win the game for the team. This book is Nonfiction and had a message trying to get students to never give up. The fly never gives up and gets his chance to shine and succeeds.

Hooray for Fly Guy is a funny book. The cartoon like illustrations are inviting. I am using this book with a group of struggling readers because it has chapters, is about football, and has repetitive words.
