Description

A new guy in town.
Rumors of vampires.

Dangerous first love.

This is where it all begins. . . .

The mansion on top of Benson Hill has stood empty for years. But one day it seems to be occupied, and its mysterious, handsome inhabitant Alexander Sterling becomes the source of much talk around town. Raven, a vampire-obsessed Goth-girl who has always considered herself an outsider in "Dullsville," is determined to uncover the truth surrounding the secretive Alexander. As she gets to know him, and their spark intensifies, Raven finds herself in some unanticipated situations. Can Alexander make her lifelong dream come true? But love always has its complications—especially when it can only be awakened at nightfall.

The first three books in Ellen Schreiber's bestselling Vampire Kisses series capture the thrill of a most unusual romance.

Vampire Kisses
"Raven is exactly the kind of girl a Goth can look up to."

Vampire Kisses
"Schreiber's writing style is frank and funny, and she captures the angst of first love perfectly."

Schreiber was a standup comedienne before becoming a writer; and her talent with humor is apparent in this story. The main character is Raven, who lives in a boring town where she stands out as a "goth," wearing strange make-up and dreaming of becoming a vampire--or at least meeting one. Much of

VAMPIRE KISSES is a wonderfully funny story. Even non-vampire fans will enjoy this one!

I am sure there are those out there who would disagree with me, but it was hard to enjoy this book after reading Twilight. Although it is well written, nicely balanced with drama, tension and humour, I just didn't get into it as much. It may be because, as an adult reader, I don't see the point in

writing about vampires or it could be because the world of fiction is saturated with vampires right now. This novel encompasses books 1-3 of Vampire Kisses - a great thing if you love the book. It is definitely written for teen readers (probably girls) who would get into the drama and angst. It is probably better if readers choose one 'vampire' series and stick with it to avoid comparisons as I have.

Vampire Kisses is a YA vampire romance. No its no Morganville or House of Night. Those books, especially the fantabulous Morganville series, have far more plot and characterization than Vampire Kisses. Still the story was nowhere near as bad as some of the reviews led me to believe. The basic plot
Show More
is that Raven, a 16 year old Goth girl (who reads more like she is about fourteen, really) stands as an outcast in the town she calls Dullsville. She has one friend and a nemesis named Trevor. Trevor is a rich jock boy and tries his best to make Raven miserable. Raven loves vampires and fantasizes about meeting one someday. Then a new family moves into a deserted mansion. There is a teenage boy named Alexander and he doesn't go to school...you can kind of see where this goes from here. I really enjoyed the pacing of the books, and I liked having a light hearted read. There is absolutely nothing deep about Vampire Kisses. "The Beginning" has the first three volumes in one and there is some smooching but no sex, very little talk about sex, no drugs or drinking, etc. Raven is a pretty straight goth girl. She is sassy beyond belief, and I can see that some might be annoyed with her cockiness and 'spunk' but I thought she was a hoot. I did laugh outloud several times over the course of these three stories. The first and third books held my interest the most. I have to say the the relationship between Trevor and Raven is some great stuff. Trevor needs to keep an active role in the spotlight because the word play and chemistry between these two is really where the action is. Trevor is a jerk but he is a fun jerk. There is more to him than meets the eye but if he was in a scene I was probably at least smirking. I wholeheartedly agree that this book is an easy, breezy read and that it certainly feels like these characters are younger than their ages. There is a lot of innocence to this group and I kind of liked it. It won't win any awards and it probably will never be one of my series that I have to rush out and buy as soon as a volume becomes availabe, but I will still read the rest of the books, eventually.

Vampire Kisses stars Raven and her love for Alexander Sterling. I think she gets to close to his to fast. On their first date he is already her 'Gothic Mate'? I don't think so.

Very cute story. Not super intricate or suspenseful. Good for younger teens who are looking for a sweet, vampiric love story.

This is one of the cutest vampire reads ever. Raven is a goth girl, but she's not your stereotypical goth girl. She's tough, smart and has a wicked sense of humor. She may be obsessed with vampires and the dark but she has such a sunny out look on life that she makes these books a fun and

worthwhile read. The plot is a vampire human romance but this time the human is the truly strong character.

❤Vampire Kisses: The Beginning
❤Vampire Kisses:
Raven made me laugh out loud from page one!! The girl is crazy but I love her!! As for Trevor, I know he is like the villain or the *ssh*l* of the story, but I kind of find him funny, and I wished that he and Raven could like... work it out!! Of
Show More
course it didn't work out with Trevor, but it worked with her Gothic Boy: Alexander. Not really, looking forward to see what will happen in book 2.
