This is a wonderful well written novel about family and love and ultimately asks the question over whether children should follow the path that their parents set for them or the path that will bring them happiness.

Have read many other works by this author and know this will be a good read also.
Starts out with a young mother having just given birth and she will be giving away her son, it's for the best.
We then find an Amish family and a terrible accident has happened with
As the story goes along you learn new things about the Amish way of things. Jonah is the young boy that is being transported to the hospital, his nephew. Caleb finds the hospital so unfamiliar.
Dr. Reese in the trauma section helps Caleb in the city, get clean clothes, food to eat, place to stay because Jonah will be recuperating a long time.
Like how she helps him around while his nephew is getting better, it's all so foreign to Caleb. Once he returns to his lands the govermnet want to take the kids away...
Story also follows Reese and her new path in specializing in her doctor career...
Amazing how they are brought together...
