For nine-year-old Kit Kittredge, Christmas has become a difficult time of year. Her father lost his job because of the Depression, and her family may be evicted from their house. To help her parents, she has to spend every afternoon with her grumpy Uncle Hendrick and his even grumpier dog. Worst of
"Kit's Surprise" is a very sweet and uplifting story about family and friends coming together at Christmastime. Valerie Tripp's writing is wonderful, as usual. I'd recommend this book for girls ages 8-12.
