This is a good story about one boy's ongoing worries and insecurities in 2nd grade. Children can easily relate to his concerns regarding friends, birthday parties, and doing well in his school work. The book also includes some Spanish, which is translated, giving the story a little bit of an

international flavor.

Jacob discovers he has a love of beavers. This interest is support and cultivated by his class, teacher, and family. The book could be read out loud to 2nd graders in class and then they could write about their special interests or hobbies. Each child could do a presentation to a younger grade, just like they do in the book.
