Chris Grabenstein is an excellent writer but he excels at writing for young children or young adults, especially the boys.

Riley Mack has a group of friends that the local policy have labeled as "troublemakers". Riley only caused real trouble once when he tried to steal an ice cream cake. Since then
Show More
he has spent his time trying to right wrongs, especially when those who are wronged are smaller and weaker than the bullies who go after them.

Riley is very creative in his plots and plans and his friends are his lifelines. With one who is good at acting and disguises, one who does the technology and the new member of the group who is great with puzzles and locks, Riley can be creative in his plans to foil the bully's in town, especially the worst bully, son of the local police chief.

I'm looking forward reading more in this series.

This was a really fun listen. Especially loved all the sound effects. Fun story with great actors. Very well narrated and acted. Even though it's target audience is middle schoolers I enjoyed it immensely. Highly recommended.

Grabenstein gained a new fan with this story in one of our non-reading family members

While my kids and I are already a Grabenstein fan in any form (book, collaboration on book, audiobook, book to movie, etc), my husband has still not come over to the reading side due to his upbringing and how he
Show More
wasn't really encouraged to read especially with his learning difficulties. After listening to this story with us on Audible and hearing the excitement and feeling that can come from pages of black words on white paper with just a little enthusiasm added in the mix, he has become excited to know more about this author and these characters. This is a huge start!

My kids and I connected with the story and the characters at different times, according to our personalities. The dog rescue story was popular with us all. I am a mystery fan who is constantly trying to solve puzzles, so I was all over the parts that pertained to that. My son loved the technology that Riley and his friends used to carry out their plans. He was amazed at small things he could do to trick someone into thinking something more serious was going on, as well as the larger plans the group put into action.

This book really had something for everyone. Action, adventure, mystery, villainy, suspense, and a satisfying story that had no actual dating or love story (spoiler: unrequited love because party A knows but party B has no clue).

Riley Mack and the Other Known Troublemakers by Chris Grabenstein and narrated by a whole cast of performers is very entertaining and enjoyable for a kids book. Riley is hated by the sheriff and his mom's boss, each one a crook. There are lots of crooks in this town and Riley and his gang always

find a way to serve up justice with clever and ingenious plans, and usually with the help of one adult too. They don't do anything to illegal ( sort of) and it is only fiction.
Great narration too!

When I first read this book I really enjoyed it, but sometimes it was a bit hard to keep up with all of the action so I decided to start from the beginning and read the book aloud. WoW what a difference it made. It felt like I was right there in the middle of their riveting adventures. It was so
Show More
exciting, I couldn't put the book down. I ended up reading the entire book in one day.

Riley Mack and his friends love a good mystery and are called upon to investigate several wild clues including hair from a missing show dog, the puzzling behavior of the local bank manager, and a stolen ipod showing up at the local flea market.

The team have their work cut out for them to unravel each clue, then, on top of everything else, Riley's mom is accused of stealing money from the bank where she works. Will Riley and his friends succeed in solving the mysteries?

Read the book or listen to the new audio book and see if you can help solve the puzzle.

I know this is middle grade at best but the reoccurring abuses of police power as a mechanism for the plot rubbed me the wrong way. I don't think there's any reason to normalize it in cutesy kid fiction.

I tried, really, to dismiss it and enjoy the rest of the story and perhaps if there was just one
Show More
instance of it that might have worked. Instead it riddled the whole thing.

I'm the end I had to stop. This audio drama is only 4 hours but I couldn't last.

From what I did hear the acting was pretty decent, if cartoonish. That seems to match the feel of the story though. No complaints with the production.
