Description

Weddings are never easy. But when you're Vampire Queen Betsy Taylor, they can become downright deadly...

In the days leading up to The Big Day, Vampire Queen Betsy Taylor seems to have a full house - and the wedding guests have yet to arrive. Along with her human buddies, there's a ghost, a werewolf, and a Fiend crashing at her place. And though her fiancé, Vampire King Eric Sinclair, conveniently disappears when the conversation turns to seating charts and flower arrangements, he does manage to make his oh-so-sexy presence known at other moments.

Betsy knows the next few weeks won't be smooth sailing - but she never expects just what's in store for her. Cold feet are no surprise, especially with an undead groom. But when Sinclair truly goes missing - and not just to avoid wedding preparations - along with most of her friends and loved ones, Betsy is frantic. Alone and afraid for the fate of everyone she loves, Betsy can't trust anyone as she tries to find them and whoever is behind all the disappearances. And what happens next will shake the foundation of the vampire world forever.

Having been very rude about the last book in this series, I find I'm having to eat my words - if the next book is in the same (slightly) longer format of this one and to the same standard I think I'll enjoy it.

Betsy's wedding day is fast approaching and she's having lots of fights with Sinclair
Show More
about it. But gradually, quite insidiously in fact, someone strips Betsy's friends and family from around her, by death, sending away, organising partners and more... Tina finally works out what's happening, but is caught in Europe so Betsy, warned that someone is doing this deliberately tries to work out who and stop them.

Betsy is still Betsy... although she's developing a suitably ruthless streak. She's also proving capable of doing things when she must, which is nice to see.

But what is really nice to see is several of the other characters are coming back into being characters rather than extensions of Betsy, or just background noise. Add to that a plot, a really quite reasonable plot and it turned back into the pleasure of reading a book rather than the drudge of watching (I mean reading) soap opera.

What a fun book. I almost never read 'chick lit' and with the vampire takeover of the genre I nearly put this book back on the shelf after reading the blurb, but this was well worth the deviation from my usual 'the world is going to end' questing fantasy trilogy/series.

It was very easy to read.

Quite a few passages made me giggle or laugh.

Great book to devour while at the Airport, on the train or even on the weekend while between the stages of mixing muffin batter, baking muffins and then eating said muffins with a nice cup of tea :D

I loved the "Undead and..." books when I first started reading them, but like many readers felt the quality had fallen off a little in the past two or three installments - until this one.

There's still lots to laugh at here, but the story also takes a darker turn...but in a good way. My interest is
Show More
firmly captured all over again and after wondering recently if I should drop this series, now I'm very much looking forward to the next installment.

None of the series are as good as her first one. They are more like drawn out short stories than real books with substance. This one was somewhat better than the last few. I wouldn't buy them but they are fun light reading and I borrow from the library.

Just finished this little one last night. It was a pretty quick read for me, just a couple evenings before bed and I was done. The story line was okay, it is a furthering of the story started 5 books ago. I really didn't see the characters grow very much nor did I really learn anything new about
Show More
them. To not spoil anything for anyone, there were a number of "significant emotional events" that occurred to the main character and she really didn't respond in a corresponding emotional manner. I've read all the other books with this series and I will probably end my relationship with the series here. I have read a number of things by this author within the last few months and many of the characters seem rather shallow like they weren't fully thought out and developed. If you like fluffy vampire chick-lit you might like this book, if your looking for something a little deeper, you might want to skip this one.

This was yet another fun romp through the world of Betsy, the highly unlikely vampire queen. I love this series' light-hearted take on the "vampire smut" genre (okay, I know it's got a more dignified name, but you know what these vampire books are like...). The intro to this book implied very
Show More
heavily that this would be a much darker novel than her previous ones, which actually worried me since this genre has a tendency to get much darker than I want to read. But thankfully, she managed to give Betsy more serious problems without losing the feel of the previous books.

I must say right away that I have adored all the Betsy books, even the ones that I was disappointed to find were over before they started. But this was a real letdown. There is nothing to this plot. Betsy's people disappear, she worries for a second, then she finds them. Oops, the book is all done.
A couple mildly suprising life-changing things happen to Betsy in this book, but nothing that impacts this plot very much. We get a brief visit from the devil, who is gone again in a flash. Even the devil can't seem to get much energy up for this story. At the beginning of the book MJD says something about how she can write long or fast but not both, and then preceeds to say this book is the long version. Um, no? This book reads in about an hour and a half, if that. That was with snacks and potty breaks, and times when I had to put the book down to help my kids with something. The conclusion to this book is too clean. She just happens to find herself some new magic powers, that just so happen to cure her terminally ill best friend. Whatever. The only reason I gave this book two stars is because Betsy is still good for a laugh out loud. And I adore MJD, really I do, but this is about as much effort I can put into giving this book a review.

These are getting very silly, and are so bare they’re practically short stories…

This book was totally fun! But how could it not be when it's about Vampire Queen Betsy! This one starts off talking about a stone that was supposedly cursed. Then it goes right into Betsy being at the double funeral of her father and his wife. Surprisingly enough, no one is there for her. Jessica
Show More
has her own problems to take care of, Sinclair took off on her after they had a spat about the wedding, Tina took off after Sinclair, Marc disappeared off the face of the planet, and Antonia and Garrett are off goodness knows where. Now she finds out that she's inherited a baby, her brother and her sister, Laura is MIA. She really has no idea what to do with herself. Now she's got strange phone calls and werewolves showing up on her door, swinging then asking questions. Geez, can't a vampire Queen get a little rest! But as the book goes along, things start to wrap up nicely and finally get to find the fiend who is behind everything. Really, it explains a lot!

Betsy is as snarky as ever in this book, but it seems that things just won't stay calm for long. She's lonely, not that she'd admit that to anyone and it just seems a little strange to her that everyone would disappear two weeks before her wedding and right at the same time her father and the Ant pass away. Hmmm....something is definitely not right here and she spends the entire book trying to figure out what is going on and following the clues.

All in all, MaryJanice Davidson would never let us down with Betsy! This book was such a fun read I had it done within a day! Loved it loved it, loved it! If you haven't started reading this series yet I highly suggest that you do, You won't be able to stop yourself. It's humorous, snarky and a whole heck of a lot of fun! Not your typical vampire read as you follow the adventures of Queen Betsy!

Now we're talking. Betsy is back with a vengence. Suddenly she is alone and has to solve her problems and save others on her own. What is a self-absorbed Vampire Queen to do? There are lots of surprises. I think this is the best one since the first in the series.

Sinclair has finally coughed up with an engagement ring and seems on board with the wedding plans. However when Betsy's friends are all off on other errands strange things start happening to Betsy. First two people close to her die and then Sinclair disappears. Could it all be conincidence or is
Show More
there a larger plot at work. Satan certainly seems to think so. Jessica spends the novel in the hospital where her cancer is getting worse and worse. Nick puts Betsy in a very difficult position as he would do anything to keep her alive or at least with him.

Another great romp for Ms. Davidson. This time, though, Betsy must face all of the problems without her ever growing support system. (Where the heck did they all go?) It is nice to see Betsy try to do it all by herself and very amusing as well.

As preparations continued for the wedding of the Queen of Vampires and her King, Betsy Taylor founder she was not just having to deal with all the arrangements herself, but everything. Everyone had deserted her. Some of them had good reasons even if Betsy hated to admit it, but most of them just
Show More
disappeared like they were hiding from the Bridezilla she felt she was quickly becoming. The only thing that kept bugging Betsy was that she really didn’t think that Eric Sinclair (her absent bridegroom) would actually leave her alone that long, even if sometimes that was exactly what she wanted.

Book 6 …. Still not really liking the self centeredness of the main character, but it was a little better than the last one that I read of this series. Again I found that the fashion since of the Queen should not have been center of her life, but it was and the author puts a lot of effort into getting the fashion style described well while leaving out (in my opinion) more important information, like what exactly Michael (the newest werewolf that Betsy meets) thought had happened to his pack mate and what the actual stipulations of Antonia staying with the vampires had been. I would have liked to know more about what happened at the end, the vague ‘what ever, it worked’ explanation is tiring even as a first person point of view story. I only continued with this one because I wanted to give the series a second chance (hoping that it was just that last story), but still not sure if the series is something I will continue - even taking into account that this one was a little better.

You can feel that something is coming, MJ is building toward something. Betsy is starting to realize that being Queen means responsibilities, duties, but I can't wait to see where this is going. Did anyone ever think of doing a series of books to put in the library, such as "Vampirism 101", "How to
Show More
survive as a Vampire", "The Responsibilites of a Vampire Sire", "The Abilities and Some Histories of Vampire Queens", etc.? This would be a great research project for the new librarian.

I thought the last Queen Betsy book was the best of the series. I was pleased to find that this one was even better. A lot of things that have been building book over the last couple of volumes came to fruition here. Betsy's wedding, for one. Also, suddenly Betsy's alone in the house that is
Show More
usually very crowded. Something must be brewing, and trouble is coming from a very unexpected corner. Betsy has to figure out what's going on all by herself, and although it seems like she might not be able to do that, she really finds some inner strength and intelligence that I, for one, seriously doubted she had. I've reached a new found respect for our vampire queen, and also for Davidson as a writer.

A great fun read in the Queen Betsy series. Her dad and the Ant die leaving her custody of Baby John. Sinclair is missing and she gets a visit from a pack of werewolves. There isn’t a dull moment in this book. Not only is she Queen of the vampires she has other powers also.
LibraryThing member Krumbs
Things finally happened! Yay! Although the danger of making a character too powerful is cropping up. If she can't be beaten, how can she stay interesting?

Another in the Queen Betsy the vampire series. This one has Betsy finally getting married to Sinclair. But there's a problem, well lot's of problems. Everyone's gone missing from her life. Sinclair has disappeared and so has Marc. Jess is in the hospital. Her father and step-mother are killed in a
Show More
car accident and she gets custody of BabyJon. All of this happens leading up to her wedding and she hasn't even picked out her dress yet.

(This review is based on a reading of the entire series in two days - thus the books have blended in together. Overall I thought it started out fun and light, a chickflick bit of urban fantasy. But I grew tired of Betsy is flaky/obsessed with shoes/losing her humanity. I am also uncomfortable with
Show More
how the fiends are shown and how physical and mental rape is treated. Sinclair never develops past being a body and a dry voice. And the minor characters stay minor. I won't recommend the series.)

Just loved this book. It was a little bit more serious than the previous books in the series and there was a lot of action and an actual plot. I can't wait to read more about Betsy and Sinclair. This maybe the best Queen Betsy book so far.
