I thought this book was really cute. I read it because it's a favorite among the 3rd grade girls at the school I work at. I can definitely see why. It's avery girly story about a girl who eats too many pink cupcakes and turns pink. She loves pink and loves being pink. Then she goes to the park and
Show More
is attacked by bees and birds and bugs because they think she's a flower. Then she decides to sneak one last pink cupcake and wakes up red the next morning. She doesn't want to be red so she follows the doctors' orders and eats a lot of green food and turns normal again. She realizes she is beautiful just the way she is, without being pink. The story itself is a lot of fun and the illustrations are a huge complement. They are fabulous - very colorful, lots of pink, and lots of different techniques. The people in the story aren't realistic, but some of the details like the clothes, accessories, furniture are very realistic. The birds and butterflies have patterns like they've been cut out of a magazine. Overall, great story and I think it's a great book for a read aloud.

This story is the story that I read to the little girl I babysit. It's an adorable book with real world lessons as well. Although turning pink from eating cupcakes is not real, it tells that when rules are disobeyed, some consequences are not good. Another lesson that comes from the story is that
Show More
if one eats dessert instead of his or her vegetables, bad things can happen to the body. The pictures in this story also allow any child, whether girl or boy, to stay fascinated and pay attention to the story more.

I didn't particularly care for the storyline or illustrations.

Genre: Fantasy because Pinkalicious physically turns pink from eating too many pink foods. She is told if she eats green food, she will turn back to normal. It is obvious this is not possible in reality.

This is a very humorous book for elementary school students, and they love it. It is about a young girl who has everything pink. This is more of a girly book, most boys arent really that interested in it. The illustrations were my favorite part. They are so nicely done and capture the student's
Show More
attention. I would read this to a small group of mostly girls in a classroom,

So girls will check out this book because it is pink and glittery and the little girl is rude to her parents, eats too much sugar, hangs from the chandelier and finally turns bright pink! (Her punishment for being greedy) Wow! Great storyline (insert sarcasm here). The illustrations are awesome
Show More
though, they totally make the book. Can you say "Bad Case of Stripes"?

In this story, a girl and her mom make pink cupcakes. The girl eats too many cupcakes and the next day she is pink. The doctor tells her to not eat anymore pink cupcakes, but she does anyways. Then she turns red, so she eats all the vegetables she can find. The next day she wakes up being herself
Show More
again.

I thought this story was really cute and little girls would love all of the pink.

In the classroom, I would teach my students that there needs to be a balance between healthy foods and sweets. Also, I would teach them how important it is to follow the doctor's orders.

Pinkalicious is about a little girl whose favorite color is pink! She eats so many pink cupcakes that she turns pink. She was told that she could not have anymore cupcakes but she took one without her parents knowing. The next morning when she woke up she was red. She had to go to the doctor and
Show More
was told she couldn't have anymore pink food! Instead, she had to eat lots and lots of green vegetables to get back to her normal self.

I loved this book! It was very cute and fun to read to the children in my class. They too loved the book and shared many laughs throughout it. The illustrations were cute and very colorful on every page.

Classroom extension idea #1: The children could come up with their own short story about them and their favorite color. Have the children follow 3 simple guidelines. They should pick their favorite color, write about the foods they ate and the things they did that involve that color, and finally tell what they did to get back to their normal color.

Classroom extension idea #2: Make a chart with the class of their favorite vegetables and their least favorite vegetables. To go along with that, the teacher could bring in some vegetables for the children to have as a snack (baby carrots, broccoli...etc.).

One of my 4 year old daughters favorite books. She loves the color pink and it gives a good moral lesson.

Pinkalicious is a playful picture book about a little girl that makes pink cupcakes with her mother on a rainy day. She loves the cupcakes and continues to try to eat more and more. Her parents try to tell her no, but she does not listen and eats more. When she wakes up the next day she turns pink
Show More
from eating too many cupcakes.

I love this story because my favorite color is pink. It is also a cute way to show children how important it is to do what they are asked when an adult tells them something to do.

I would use this with preschool and Kindergarten children. I would do a lesson on colors simultaneously with a lesson on listening. I would ask the children what colors they saw in the story and what the little girl should have done so she would not have turned pink.

This is actually one of my best friend's favorite books because she loves the color pink too! This story is a very cute Modern fantasy book because the main character actually turns pink from eating too many pink cupcakes! The plot is not something that would ever happen in real life, but it makes
Show More
sense in the book of why she did in fact turn pink. This is also an excellent modern fantasy book because all the events, such as her eating more vegetables to get her back to her normal self, are made believable through the text and the illustrations.

Pinkalicious is a great story about the effects of over-indulgence. The story is about a little girl named Pinkalicious who is in love with the color pink, eats way too many pink cupcakes, and ends up with “Pinkitis”—which turns her skin pink! After visiting the doctor, Pinkalicious is told
Show More
she must no longer eat anything pink, but after refusing to bide by the doctor’s warnings, she ends up eating another pink cupcake and turns an even deeper shade of pink. Pinkalicious finally decides she wants to go back to normal, so she takes the doctors advice and eats lots of greens. The story ends with a cute surprise twist that you’ll just have to wait to read to find out. This book is great for lower-elementary students and provides the opportunity to discuss exerting discipline and not always indulging in everything we want.

Pinkalicious

Pinkalicious is about a little girl that makes pink cupcakes with her mother and eats so many pink cupcakes that she turns pink! The little girl so happy with her pink complexion because pink is her favorite color. The little girl’s parents are hysterical and decide
Show More
to take her to the doctor. The doctor diagnoses the little girl with pinkititis and tells her to eat nothing but green food. The little girl loves being a pink child so she continues to eat pink and the little girl turns a shade of red! Oh no! Says the little girl I do not want to be red! So the little girl cobbles as much green food down as she can to return to her normal complexion.
I loved this book, I thought it was adorable! This is a good modern fantasy book to read to children. What little girl does not dream having a pink complexion to match her pink princess dress. I think the specific motif in this category of modern fantasy would be peculiar characters and situations. It’s not everyday you get to see a little girl turn pink from eating too many pink cupcakes.
After reading the book to my second grade class I would have them open their journals and participate in creative writing. I would ask the children to write about their favorite color and what kind of food would they have to eat excessive amounts of to turn their favorite color. For a second project as class we would bake pink cupcakes and each student would get to decorate their own pink cupcake.

This book is good to teach about taking things in moderation and not overusing and it shows what will happen if you do!

A very "pink" book! Great for students who love pink and cupcakes. Creative illustrations that show fantasy, imagination and humor.

pinkalicious loves everything pink even her food. when she refuses to eat anything else except pink cupcakes, against her parents warnings, she turns pink. this would be a great book to read to a class about good nutrition or about colors.

This story has a cute premise. It is rhythmical and full of wordplay that I thought was fun. There are a lot of words that can incorporate the word pink! And the pictures have a lot of color, which was nice.

However, this isn't my favorite book. The main character is incredibly bratty and hasn't
Show More
really learned her lesson by the end of the story. I'm not worried about kids taking that the wrong way, though. They know what's bad and what's good behavior. From personal experience, they recognize that the girl isn't behaving like she should. But I personally like to have a strong lesson in children's books, and this one just doesn't fulfill that. I would have liked to see more consequences of the little girl staying pink, since there is only one time that it really backfires on her.

Like I said, this is a cute story. Children who love the color pink will especially like it. But be warned, they will most definitely beg you for pink cupcakes by the end of the book.

A young girl loves the color pink. One day her mom was making cupcakes and wanted the little girl to help pick out what color to choose. She chooses pink of course, her favorite color. After consuming way too many pink cupcakes she wakes up all pink. After visiting the doctor her mother feeds her
Show More
only green things to eat. She pretends to eat the green vegetables. Later on she sneaks into the kitchen and eats another cupcake, soon after she turns red. Not wanting to be red she eats nothing but green things and returns to her normal color. In the classroom: story time, listening skills

This entertaining read aloud will capture young children's attention with its quick paced action and sense of humour. The comedic illustrations match the tone of the writing. A page turner.

Pinkalicious has a love for the color pink which is clear throughout the book. When Pinkalicious eats too many pink cupcakes, she herself turns pink! This is an exciting adventure as a young girls love for the color pink becomes entertaining and troublesome.

Pinkalicious eats so many pink cupcakes that she wakes up the next morning with pink skin and hair. The color just won't wash off, and the doctor diagnoses her with Pinkititis and tells her to eat green food to get better. Still, when her parents aren't looking, she sneaks just one more treat–and
Show More
turns red. Startled, she starts to choke down her veggies and finally returns to normal. When everything seems okay, Daddy asks what happened to the other cupcakes, and Pinkalicious's little brother bounds into the room with one in hand, happily showing off his new pink skin. The final Pink-a-boo! is sure to garner smiles.

Another popular book with little girls, this one involves a girl who eats a few too many pink cupcakes. Not quite Fancy Nancy in my book, but still very cute!

Can you guess what this book is about? A little girl who loves PINK! She wants to only eat pink candy and then she begins to turn pink! She is brought to the doctor by her parents and he suggests she eat GREEN vegetables which she finds gross! She sneaks another pink treat, and becomes dark pink
Show More
(almost red!) She ultimately comes to the conclusion that vegetables aren't all that bad! One problem.. her little brother now loves pink food... Uh oh!
