Dale's nerves are jangled, but Mo, who doesn't mind getting even with Mr. Macon for hurting her loved ones, looks forward to a slam dunk conviction--if everything goes as expected.
Of course nothing goes as expected. Macon Johnson sees to that. In no time flat, Macon's on the run, Tupelo Landing's in lockdown, and Dale's brother's life hangs in the balance. Fun and crazy as the previous Tupelo Landing mysteries. Love all the crazy characters and hoping that there will be more of these books.

Mo, Dale & Harm are great friends and characters, learning to lead and follow and support one another in this third installment in the series. Turnage writes with excellent metaphors and similes, often with humor. I like the southern setting and idiosyncracies. Though a bit slow in the middle, I

was satisfied with the overall story, and the convolutions of the plot.

Another satisfying read-aloud. R and I discussed the mystery midway through, which we didn't do for the earlier books. We each figured out the red herring, and even guessed whodunit but without identifying the underlying motive. R did surmise the reason for a break-in and its role in planting

evidence.

These stories are a great blend of character, funny dialogue, and compelling mystery. I'm sure R would have us read another, if more are written. Maybe for that one, I'll do some research on Carolina accents.

Always a delight.

children's fiction (detective mystery). I still like the characters in this Mo&Dale series, but am feeling less inclined to read the next one. Perfectly decent story although with a fairly obvious suspect/perpetrator.

The Desperado Detectives are back, in one of the most stressful situations they've ever had to deal with -- Dale's daddy is on trial for kidnapping, and Dale will have to take the stand.

Mo is there, of course, to defend her friend and to learn some hard lessons about loyalty and the harsh
Show More
judgements of a small town. Another excellently written and humor-filled tale of the doings in Tupelo Landing. The series continues fine, and I eagerly await the next installment.
