Although his father insists that pandas do not wear pants, the young bear in this charming tale is insistent, using every argument at his command to get his way. Pants are warm, he maintains, they have pockets, and they protect legs from scratches. But it isn't until a pair of borrowed pants come

in handy during a tiger attack, that Papa Panda is convinced. Of course, by that time his son has moved on, and is yearning for a different sort of accoutrement...

This sweet little book boasts an entertaining story featuring a father and child and their amusing back-and-forth exchanges, as well as adorable illustrations that capture the emotional undercurrents of their discussion. As an adult, I chuckled at Papa Panda's obvious frustration with his son's seemingly random pants-obsession, and I imagine that many parents will recognize this story of dealing with a youngster who has a one-track mind. Children, for their part, will enjoy seeing that youngster's determination to get what he wants justified in the end. Recommended to anyone looking for children's stories featuring a loving parent-child bond, or for tales in which children play the role of the hero.

Oh. My. God.

This book is quite possibly one of the most adorable things I've ever read.

I love the young panda, I love the parent panda, I love the entire conversation -- and what eventually happens as a result of the young panda's wish for pants.

You know those books that you wish you could
