Oh no! MacDonald Hall is going broke! Bruno and Boots have to save it! Luckily for them, they have the entire girls' school next door eating out of their hands (or supplying them with provisions, whichever). And they're rooming with the resident mad scientist and his unending supply of gadgets and

potions.

Silly, silly silly silly. Also, the basic plot is very obviously not well thought out (although it at least redeems itself at the end by pointing out how badly-thought-out the plots were.) But I had to keep on reading, if only to find out what the mysterious Fish would announce next.

I recently introduced the Bruno and Boots books to my children. This one was laying around, and I decided to reread it. These books are classics. They are not great literature, but they are great, entertaining stories. Very simply written, perfect for reluctant readers. Just as amusing now as when
