tradition. Or, in another way, he presents Catholicism as a way of life rather than a system of belief. This style is most beneficial when dealing with current controversies. He acknowledges teachings that are difficult, explains them, and puts them in light of the complete tradition rather than dealing with them in isolation. Therefore, difficult issues are presented as a deviation from the worldview rather than an exception to be solved. While subtitled "An Introduction to Catholicism," this is not a basic work. Fr. White deals with concepts and themes that may test a person who is new to studying theology or philosophy. While staying faithful to Catholic tradition, his discussion of the death penalty does not reflect updates made to the Catechism by Pope Francis. This book is highly recommended and is appropriate for Parish and College libraries. Show Less
