A series of events and inspirations lead to a young girl growing up to become a songwriter and conductor.
This book was lovely in showing how the world is interconnected and using the common language of music to do so. It is a serious book, so those who are used to Willems's typically funny books
Ren's mostly realistic illustrations are appealing and complement the text fittingly. They also feature a diverse cast of characters, which is a nice touch.

In my opinion, this is an inspiring and well-written book. One of the things I love about this book is the illustrations. The illustrations bring a joyful mood and inspired feelings in the reader. For example, the bright colors of the music notes and sharp detail in the illustrations display a
One of the things I love about this book is the language it uses. The use of repetition in this book emphasizes the main idea that it tries to tell the readers. For example, in this book, every complete thought started off with the word “because.” The use of repetition of this word emphasizes the idea of cause-and-effect. Due to one person going to a certain concert, he/ she decided to become a musician. The repetition displays the main message that one action can make a huge difference in someone’s life, such as the impact on the musicians illustrated in this story.

A way more serious and sincere look at the power of music and art to inspire than I was expecting from Pigeon and Elephant & Piggie creator Mo Willems. Well done!
