This is sheer delight from beginning to end. A little boy has an elephant for his pet. He and the baby elephant go everywhere together, except to the pet club house. They are banned from the club, and it is very clear by the sign on the door that no elephants are allowed.

Feeling sad for his friend

the elephant, he happens to find a young girl who has a stinkless skunk for a pet. Together they form their own club where all animals are welcomed.

The illustrations are lovely and colorful.
