Who wouldn't want to give a cookie to talking, overall-clad mouse? Read it and be prepared for the inevitable. A classic!

A cute story about what happens if you give a mouse a cookie. The book follows all of the things he'll then want next until the story comes full circle. Perfect for a lesson for young children on cause and effect and sequencing.

In this story, you find out what would happen if you gave a mouse a cookie. He would want a glass of milk. Then, he would need a straw. Eventually, he gets back around to needing another cookie. This book is entertaining and would make any k-1 grader laugh. It would be good for read alouds, but it
Show More
doesn't specifically teach any lessons.

In this original classic rhyming book for children hilarity ensues as our protagonist gives a mouse a cookie. This bossy little mouse was the star of my own library as a child and has kept his charm throughout the years. Perfect for any elementary aged student.

A cute story about what can happen when you give a mouse a cookie. The mouse asks for many other things, and ends up wanting a cookie again at the end. This book has inspired several other stories (If You Give a Moose a Muffin, If You Give a Pig a Pancake, etc.), and remains a great story for kids
Show More
to learn about sequence.

This is a cute little book about a creative little mouse who can imagine tons of things to do if you just give him a cookie. If you give him a cookie, he thinks he will need to have a glass of milk, which will require him to have a napkin, etc.

My students loved this book when I read it aloud to
Show More
them. They liked watching the mouse bounce around from activity to activity. I also had them guess what the mouse would want to do next, and my students had a blast trying to find out if he did what they thought he would do. It was a very precious book.

If you give a mouse a cookie, don't expect that to be the end of it. He needs milk, a glass, a straw and a whole lot more favors!

I've always loved the "If you give.." books. They are fun to read, and the illustrations are adorable.

curriculum connection: write your own series of things you need
Show More
after you are given an item. For example, if you give a child a balloon... what more will the child need?

We had to buy it after we read it in the library :)

And it's still a favorite around here two years later!

It amazes me that this book is almost as old as I am, is of course considered a very popular classic, and yet - I never read it until I was an adult!

Given its age, I'm sure everybody *else* here
Show More
knows the plot, but just in case, this is a book about a (very logical, I'm sure) series of misadventures that happens after you give something to a mouse. Every request leads to another thing, and another, and another, until the poor boy in the story falls dead asleep.

This book is too cute, and it's funny, too, in a way that both adults and kids will appreciate.

Plus, it's short, which is great for those "Oh dear, go to BED already!" kind of nights!

This is a cute easy read book for younger kids. It goes through if you give a mouse a cookie then he might want a glass of milk. And if you give him milk he night ask for a straw. The book goes on and on until it gets back to him wanting a cookie. It is a cute picture book.

This is a great book for kindergarten and first graders. You can teach this book, while strengthening the students' predicting skills. Let the children predict what they think the mouse might ask for next.

This is a great book where the mouse is given what he wants but then he is reminded of something else he is in need of.

I love how both Laua Joffe Numeroff's books leave you constantly waiting for the parent in the story to wander in and discover all the hi-jinx that have been taking place. You are just waiting for the 'What on Earth is going on in here?!' and although it never comes, the intricate and engaging
Show More
illustrations by Felicia Bond give you a good idea of what will happen when mom does show up. I love these books as kids, and loving sharing them with my boyfriend this time around as well.

If You Give A Mouse A Cookie by Laura Joffe Numeroff is about a boy who gives a mouse a cookie and then has to take care of him all day. The mouse then preceeds to want more things like milk, a nap, a story, and by the end more milk and cookies. This is a really fun book to read to little kids. It
Show More
was one of my favorite's growing up because it came with a stuffed animal mouse with a detachable cookie on his hand. It is always fun to get to have a prop to share while reading a story.

This is a cute book about what happens when a boy gives a mouse a cookie. The mouse is continuously wanting something else. The boys spends his whole day getting things for and cleaning up after the mouse. The boy learns just how a small creature can be so demanding and messy, especially after you
Show More
give it a cookie.
This is a level 2 book.

This book is very humorous. I always asked the teacher to read it in elementary school. I thought it was hilarious every time the mouse asked for one more thing. I can think kids love this story because they laugh and can relate to the idea of needing a glass of milk with your cookie, no exceptions.

Is the story of a little boy who gives a mouse a cookie. Little does he know what he will have to do after he gives the mouse a cookie. The mouse continues to ask the boy for things, and even when he gets them, he is not satisifed. The ilttle boy runs around all day cleaning up after the mouse and

the mess that he makes.

This story was about a boy who gives a mouse a cookie. After the boy gave the mouse a cookie the mouse wanted some milk. Then the mouse gave himself a haircut and got hair all over the floor. Then the mouse swept the floor and all the floors in the house. The boy decided to make the mouse a place
Show More
to sleep. The mouse then became the boys pet. This story teaches children to not give food to different animals because the animals would probably want to be your pet.

I think children would really enjoy this book because the mouse keeps wanting more and more and at the end it wants a cookie again and it's like the story would have to start all over. There are other books similar to this one, If You Give A Moose A Muffin and If You Give A Pig a Pancake.

"If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" written by Laura Joffe Numeroff is a very humorous story about a young boy who is visited by a mouse. The boy allows the mouse to come into his home and the boy gives the mouse a cookie. After receiving the cookie, the mouse asks for milk, a straw, a napkin, and
Show More
various other things. The mouse starts doing various activities, such as drawing a picture, and makes a mess looking for supplies. This story provides a good lesson about the difficulty of entertaining guests, as well as a lesson about consequences and actions. I would read this story to Kindergarten to 5th grade students.

A silly book that twist around into a circle of cause and affect, if you give mouse a cookie he' will want some milk...

A fun tale that is great for teaching kids about consequences. The simple idea of giving a mouse a cookie makes his owner exhausted. His owner experiences a mous who simply just wants to do everything and can do whatever he wants within reason, just because of a cookie. At the end of the book the
Show More
mouse is going to want to have a glass of milk which of course will need a cookie to go with it. And so the cycle continues.
-Kids can learn a lesson about consequences
-This book can help children understand the concept of cycles and how they work with consequences
-For grades pre-k to grade 3

This book shows students they do not need to want and want. It shows them they do not need to be too pushy with things they want because more than likely they won't get everything they want.

Genre: Fantasy

Review: The author of this story creates a fantasy. She tells a story of what could happen if you give a mouse a cookie. The events in the story could not happen in real life, because this story implies that a mouse can ask for different things if you give it a cookie.

Setting: The
Show More
setting of this book utilizes how the story is told, because after the mouse is offered the cookie, the mouse asks to go inside the house which is where the rest of the story takes place.

Media: Not Stated.

This is one of my all time favorite children books. The book starts out with saying, "If you give a mouse a cookie, he's going to ask you for a glass of milk." The book continues with the same phrase but the mouse will want something different every time. The illustrations are so cute and children
Show More
would love to guess what the mouse would want next. This book is so well written that any child would love to read in my opinion!
