This illustrations in this one are good. I'll admit it's a great concept... and my three-year-old seems to like this book. I don't, though. I don't hate it or anything like that, I just think it could be so much better than it is. There is an incongruity between the pictures and the text. The
Show More
illustrations are fun and silly and exciting. The text is predictable and unimaginative - kind of boring. That's the way I feel. (I know, I know - bad pun.)

Wonderful book for giving young children a lot of words to describe their feelings. It rhymes. I like how each page dealt with a different emotion and that word was highlighted with script that felt as descriptive as the rhyme. Ends with a useful "A Note to Parents" section.

Great for all ages. About feelings. Kids can draw pictures about different feelings we can have.

This book explains feelings with rhyming. The illustrator uses colors to help show the feelings and mood of the character. For each character and his/her mood, the colors change to match the mood. The story gives examples of what might make a person feel the way they do.

This book is about the way children feel. From silly, to angry, and sad. The illustrations shows exactly how the children feel and what they do. Whenever the word describes a child Cain would illustrates the exact meaning and the expression on the childs face.

I personally liked this book. It shows
Show More
how children and adults are. Children can learn that they are not the only ones who have different emotions and describe what exactly they are feeling.

In a classroom, I could have all the kids write down as much adjectives as they can on a piece of paper. Also, I could have the children play a role of an emotion and have their classmates guess what adjective they are acting out.

In this book the author selects a range of emotions and writes a poem about each feeling. The Way I Feel covers feeling of anger, jealousy, and hunger, among several other feeling in order to describe to children their feeling in order to help them understand why they are feeling certain ways. At
Show More
the end of the book, Cain writes that feelings are a part of who you are.

The drawings in this story are very creative. The cartoons like pictures are drawn in pencil. Color is used in the illustrations to reflect each emotion. I enjoyed reading this book because the rhyming poems seem to flow nicely as you read out loud. This is a wonderful book that can help children recognize and understand emotions.

After reading The Way I Feel to a class I would have students to act out an emotion described in the story. Classmates can guess which emotion is being portrayed. I would have older students write their own poem about one of the emotions in the story. This story could be read to a class learning about adjectives.

The Way I Feel by Janan Cain

This picture book vividly shows how this little girl feels. It gives a great picture of the little girl with the feeling and then shows the word and gives a defection for the word on every two pages.

I like this book because children have feelings all of the time, but may
Show More
not have the vocabulary to describe what they are feeling. For example, I read this book to my pre-k students and they though the pictures where the girl was smiling were all happy.

I would use this book with young elementary children to help them describe their emotions. It is a great vocabulary lesson. I would then ask the children to tell me some of the words they learned in the story. If they need help I will go back to the pages and show them the picture to help them remember.

This book is very educational about the different emotions that you can feel and provides examples of when and why you might feel that way.

Cain helps kids explore their feeling toward self control and temper management as they learn to understand their emotions.

The Way I Feel is a great book that helps young children learn about emotions. The book talks about the major emotions such as being excited, happy, sad, angry, jealous, scared, and surprised. The book explains each emotion by explaining a certain situation for each and showing a visual image of
Show More
facial expressions. This book is great for young children around toddler and preschool aged, because this is when they are really learning to express their emotions successfully. I teach in toddler and preschool classrooms, and when we read this book I like to have an activity to go along with the reading, so I have the children show me their faces for each of the emotions displayed while we are on that emotion. This book makes learning fun, and does a great job of properly displaying each of the major emotions.

Children will learn to recognize, identify and label their emotional feelings. They also learn that feelings are okay. Thirteen different feelings are described and named in rhyming verse.

This is a really good book. It is really good because it bring up emotions that people have every day and the author and illustrator both us exaggerated features to express words and pictures. In the book it says “Frustrated. I am frustrated because I can’t do it.” Many children say those
Show More
words too often so it can be relatable to readers. The author uses large font sizes to represent the emotions. The illustrator uses different colors to represent different emotions. For Happy, the illustrator used bright colors such as yellow, green, and pink. For angry, the illustrator used vibrant colors such as red. The big idea of the book was that emotions will come and go and you will never know what is coming next but they are a part of you.

Feelings are neither good nor bad, they simply are. Kids need words to name their feelings, just as they need words to name all things in their world. This book uses strong, colorful, and expressive images which go along with simple verses to help children connect the word and the emotion. Children
Show More
learn useful words that help them have conversations about what’s going on in their lives.

This is a great book to teach children about feelings and emotions. A lot of the time children feel certain ways but don’t know what it is that they are feeling. With this book children will learn that emotions are normal and each one has a different name.

This is a cute book which helps children identify their emotions. With colorful images that match the word connotating the emotion, I recommend this book to parents, especially those
Show More
children who have a difficult time controlling their emotions. The simpliciting might help children laugh out loud at the image depicting the emotion, and therefore allow the child not feel ovewhelmed when they are angry, sad, silly, excited, jealous, proud, disappointed, scared, happy, thankful, shy, or bored.
