This is a re-telling the story of Jonah, the man who chooses to run away rather than do what he was told by God, He was disobedient and ended up getting thrown into the sea, swallowed by a huge fish. Most of you know this story, but this book is written in a very different way. It reads like an

adventure book with great spots for personal reflection and connecting to God. I have never seen such a unique approach to teaching children about Bible characters! It is part adventure, part detective, and part Bible study. There are black and white sketches depicting the story that also help tell the story. There are references to scripture (NIV) that can be cross-referenced to the Bible. I think some of the concepts are a bit difficult for younger readers and I would recommend this book to children 8 and up. The publisher Barbour Books, generously provided me with a copy of this book to read. The rating and opinions are my own.
