Took FOREVER for this one to come up in our library holds but it is 100% worth the wait. Filled with little stories of smart, brave, courageous, persistent stories of women throughout history. It's a tome that I love having in the house right now. Trying to change the 3 year olds narrative around

women and beauty. My favourite teaching tool in any circumstance is a really great book! Every little girls should have a copy of this book. It's filled with the usual women you would think of as rebel girls but there are also so, so many that you probably never heard of whose stories are so unique and empowering! Pick it up today!!

Mini biographies of various women. It's an American book so a few too many US examples but overall a good spread. The illustrations are generally a bit cartoony, though there are some exceptions, especially the excellent one of Astrid Lindgren. I was especially disappointed that the section on

Artemisia Gentilesci didn't use her brilliant "Self Portrait as the Allegory of Painting" as a basis.

All in all quite entertaining for kids.

My Opinion: Although a children's book, I very much enjoyed it as an adult. Some of the lessor-known heroines I googled to get a bit more information on. A quick and enjoyable read.

I love this book -- also like the 2nd one, but not as much. Really inspiring stories about a range of accomplished women from throughout the ages. My daughter is enthralled.

I enjoyed this more than I expected to. The entries are uneven- some are surprisingly overly simplistic- but most will pique your interest. That is really my biggest issue: there are no citations, source notes, or suggestions for further reading. When each woman gets 3 paragraphs, you do your

readers a service by pointing them to more.

We have a 3.5 year old and this is currently her favorite book. She calls it the book with "the ladies" and "reads" it on her own by flipping through the pages. It's her new favorite bedtime book and we read one or two stories at bedtime each night. A huge, fantastic success.

I loved this book! It has so many great stories of inspiring women. I kept going to Google to learn more about each one. The artwork is beautiful, too. I love that all of the illustrators are also women and that there is such a beautiful diversity of styles.

I read a dozen of the stories to my

3-year old nephew, and he loved them. He kept asking me to read more!

I did quite enjoy this book, especially how a lot of the entries are from more modern women, as in they lived within the last 300 years. There were lots of women I didn't know in addition to the more famous ones I did know, and I was surprised at some of the actually modern (as in still living or

recently deceased) women who were included. I'm not sure I've seen many other books of this type include so many living women, so that was a nice inclusion. I also loved how each woman got a full-page artwork, even though I feel some of the artwork isn't as flattering as others are. This is definitely a great book for young kids, so parents, check it out!
