Book tastes

I am looking for contemporary or historical science fiction and fantasy (I like character-driven space opera, but lots of other stuff too), and 20th-21st-century literature (especially British or anything with some postmodern playfulness). I include a list of authors below-- anything I don't own by them would be welcome, but also anything they make you think of, and also anything my library makes you think I would like.
